ikr. With minimum order quantities it is at least $250 for everything including tools. I got one extra RTMR so I can build it and then maybe sell on TW to cut the cost.

I've done a mod or two
That was my thought as well. It's not exactly enjoyable work either, maybe the first time cause you are learning but after that it is repetitive. Decent way to make money but enough people make them that the market is eroded.

Did you order all of the connectors and terminals etc. as outlined in the DIY guide too, or just the switches and RTMR at this point?

Just now ordering all the terminals, connectors, wire, seals, plugs, etc from Waytek. Kinda painful LoL.

Hm...I'm thinking it may be easier to just order enough of everything to make two complete sets (rather than doing the minimum quantities where we are required, and then only how much one setup will require). Then split the cost with someone and once you receive all the needed parts, you get paid via paypal and then ship out half of all of the parts. Does that make any sense?

Yeah. That's what I'm planning. I got two RTMRs from TTI Inc.com for like $28 each which is only a small part of the total cost.

HM let me PM you. I was planning on following this DIY guide exactly. So if you are doing the same and bought the same stuff, I'd consider splitting the order with you and then having you ship all the parts out to me (or is versa). That way neither of us has to build an extra and then have to worry about selling it.

Well I'm currently in Canada so it's going to be painful for me no matter what. I'd be happy to show you what I build and if you are interested I can come up with a fair number when the time comes.

Just for reference here is my order from Waytek. I'm pretty sure this will do 2 RTMRs. Then the RTMRs are $28 each. Not counting the switch end of things. I have another tool to buy too for the 12ga terminals. I wouldn't split the tools of course.

I think I may wait until I find someone in the States wants to split a parts order. Part of the appeal to me is the sense of accomplishment from completing a project such as this. I'll let you know if I change my mind though!

Yeah. I think building it is gonna be half the fun. I figure the extra $150 is worth the education. I'm sure someone will pick up the extra build.

So I have completed and attached an Excel table that shows the cost of this project, exactly as @tacozord completed it. Keep in mind that these are pre-shipping and pre-taxes costs (from a few different vendors), so it will be higher than shown. This also doesn't include the 10 AWG TXL wire because I simply cannot find that cheap enough/not by the roll. Nor does this price include the cost for any tools needed, or the switch panel, or switches themselves.

If anyone finds any discrepancies, please let me know.

Thanks for posting your spreadsheet with prices. Mine is similar and the prices are comparable. I sourced from Waytek, Wire Barn, and Amazon. I have found that DelCity.com has pretty good prices and you can order some of the parts w/o the same minimum quantities as Waytek. However per unit price for Waytek is cheaper.

The only think I need from Mouser is the Metri-Pack 280 Sealed Tangless Female 12-10 AWG terminals – 12110853. Is there an equivalent terminal on Waytek or DelCity for these, maybe it has a different part number?

Also for the 10 gauge wire, have you thought about ordering the GXL wire and just trimming the 1/8" that is needed to go through the seals? If you do this, then you can order it by the 10' pieces for $6.99/ft from Wire Barn.

I couldn't fine the tangless female 12-10 terminals anywhere but Mouser as well. I used 12 gauge GXL for my jumpers with no isssues

I got most everything from Waytek and a few things from Del City. They both had the female tangless but in different minimum order quantities I think.
