Works now. Sorry I'm not trying to be a dick it's just this comes up regularly and the same wrong info is given. That thread has basically everything you need to know.

 

Rotated tires, applied anti-squeal lube to front brake pads, sanded all pads, and repainted brake drums. Not bad for a Sunday.

Ive been doing some lookin around and I'm kinda curious about 15 inch wheels. I read a lot of people saying they fit fine and will clear the calipers but some say they gotta trim them depending on the wheel. Aside from that I couldnt find much in terms of 33" tires you could run with 15s, I was looking at general grabber at2s before I thought about the 15s. but if I can get 15s that'll save some money on both tires and the wheels right?

 

The tacomas with the optional vsc are the ones that cant fit 15s. If you dont have you should be fine.

 

my truck has 31 10.5 15s on it and look for 33x9.5x15 or 33x10.5x15 or 33x12.5x15, plenty of places that make them if thats what you need... i love these http://falkentire.com/tires/light-truck-suv-cuv-tires/wildpeak-m/t-tire-0

 

Blasphemy, but I swapped out the 5-speed for an auto.

So what did you do with the 5 spd?

 

added some red on the drumbrakes and mounted a hilift jack. Still have alot more to do.

 

I gave it to the yard as the $50 core even though it was working. I got an additional $50 for the bell housing from someone locally, so I'm satisfied with the outcome.

 

And what made you want to swap to auto? Aren't you supercharged? I know the auto v6 tranny doesn't do well boosted unless you do work to the bell housing and add a tranny cooler

 

Yeah but it's a boosted 4cyl, so he'll likely be fine

 

Is the auto tranny the same or are they completely different for the V6 and 4 banger?

 

Same exact tranny, but the 4cyl has a longer way to go before its pushing the limits of the auto. The shifts just won't be as snappy at first, as he makes more and more power more symptoms will show but even then I'd imagine it will be minor.
