Maybe differences in where the main bulge of the sidewall are in a 17" vs 16" rim?

I was busy on Friday. My buddy called and said he had a special delivery for me...

    So I loaded up...

And drove over to his shop, and said goodbye to this look
    [IMG]

I started pulling wheels one at a time, breaking down the old tires, removing the TPMS sensors, installing them on the new wheels, and started mounting the new tires on the new wheels (sorry, no photos of this part), and this is where I started running into trouble...

Problem #1 - His air compressor wasn't strong enough to seat the tires on the new wheels (Jason, my buddy, owns a tire and wheel distribution business, not a tire and wheel shop... I'm thankful that he just had the tire mounting machine). Easy solution, break down all the old wheels, replace the TPMS sensor with a new valve stem, air up the old wheels, put them back on the truck (this is where problem #2 reared its ugly head). Install TPMS sensors on new wheels, mount new tires and load them back up in the truck and take a 25 min drive up the road in rush hour traffic to a buddy of Jason's to have them blow the new tires up and balance them. $20 cost over the $100 price tag of having someone do it for me... +5 on the hassle scale, +3 on the DIY scale lol

Problem #2 - Found out that I kind of f***ed up a month ago with my suspension install... when putting the rear wheels back on after installing the new dakars & OME shocks, I somehow managed to cross-thread several of the lugs, and in the process of getting the wheels off to remove the sensors, one of the lugs sheared off.

Back to the story... Get up to Trendsetters, find Jason's buddy Mike (the owner) and show him what's going on. He gets his guys going on airing up the tires and balancing them. 20 mins later, I've got all 4 of the new wheels loaded back up in the truck and ready to head home. Find Mike to settle up with payment, but he just waves me off (I imagine that the 8 pack of Bud Light that Jason told me to bring him helped out here). So I ask him about replacing the lug studs, what should I expect to pay to have them fixed. Mike's answer "Oh I'd charge you $30 to replace the ones that are needed." My reply: $30 a side? Can you do it tomorrow?

I left the truck overnight with him and Saturday afternoon I picked up my truck with a brand new look:

Took some time to slap on the red inserts:

And now I'm as happy as a rooster in a hen house :)

    Interesting!

Do you park at the parking structure at The Round in Beaverton? I always see a truck there exactly like yours and this morning, as I was leaving the gym, I saw the exact same truck parking in the structure and saw that the owner got new wheels exactly like yours. Do you have your canopy off at this moment :) I didn't pay attention if it had a canopy or not.

As I recall, that sticker on the passenger side looks oddly familiar too lol and that thing hanging down on your 'oh shit handle'. As a matter of fact..my daughter and played with your dog before while your dog was in your truck one time lol creepy, I know.

    Wheels look good man!

LOL... yup, that's me :D I got a great spot this morning too

I'm glad you and your daughter stopped by to say hi to KC... I could always tell when someone stopped by to say hi to her during the day, she was always super happy when I would come out after work or on my lunch. The sticker (the pink paw print with "KC" under it) is my tribute to her... I lost her Feb '15 to a bone tumor... it's my own version of "Dog is my copilot"

The thing on my "Oh Shit" handle...

That's my Timber's "Truck Monkey" (I'm sure if you're from the Portland area, you remember the old Surburban Auto Group "Trunk Monkey" commercials from the 90's)... he's my take on that

I'm sorry to hear about KC :( Glad you're a TW member! When I first saw it in the structure I thought to myself "Painted lower valence...TW member?"

My TW support sticker is on the backside of the canopy... which you never see cuz I almost always back into spots (life is so much easier to back into a spot than it is to back out of one), but you can see it in the third photo (pre-wheels side shot with the canopy window open)

EDIT: Valence has been dipped for about 4 yrs now, as is the rear bumper (damn chrome shit). I'm thinking that the flares need to be dipped, since the mud flaps are now off and you can see where they rubbed the paint off, and there's some trimming that I need to do (Cab Mount Chop incoming as well)

There it is! Ha, yeah I always back up as well since it's so tight in there. Dipping the flares black or...? I did the CMC myself a few years ago and it's ugly as shit. I been wanting to go rent the tool at Home Depot again to make it look prettier and cut more but haven't found the motivation to.

Dipping them black, yes... also considering removing the silver nubs on the wheels and painting them... either black or maybe trying to match the red... but the bolts on them are metal, and the washer nubs are plastic, so who knows how well that will hold.

I've got a buddy with a welder that I'm gonna enlist for the CMC... he's got a welder and the skills, though by his admission he says he's not "the greatest at welding"
