So why on earth would Toyota procude the 6spd Man Trans to turn at higher RPMS in sixth gear compared to the auto (at highway speeds)?

Why wouldn't they just gear the man the same, I wouldn't mind a little better MPG!!!! I heard it before but i'll say it again - 16 MPG for mixed driving is about what i'd get with a bigger, more powerful F150!

Don't get me wrong i love my taco....just trying to see the logic behind toyota's decision?

Plus F150 (and Ford) overall are really stepping it up now a days!

I have an 09 AC SR5 and I'm just praying that it was made with the same quality of those early tough ass trucks! Sad part is we will all have to wait ten years to find out!

Maybe Toyota is now producing average trucks,, and riding the success and name brand of the earlier years? just a thought. (and i know i'm not the only one who has thought of this:))

05 auto . Temperature varies. I have had it for a year now and I have been getting that steady. If I drive in "Old Man Mode" I get the 20mpg. If I drive in "Teenager Rock God mode" I get the 18 mpg. Keep in mind this is over a tank to tank average.

Hey, you dont need to shift going up hills or w/ a trailer.

I get by on only 20 mpg all summer long, got my worst tank yesterday since March at 17.5 w/ 4wd snow n' cold. Dont think an F150 is gonna see that.

    You coulda bought an auto...

I have an 09 Fx4 F-150 and get about 16.5 mpg every fill up. I went on a 3000 mile trip from Kansas to Montana and back and got right at 19.5 average.

I would like to buy a Toyota but dont know if they will get that much better mileage!

thanks for the info guys! i have about 9K on the truck and shift at 2K rpm. except from 1st to 2nd i shift at about 2500. should i expect a bump in mpgs when i hit 10K miles? ....i'm also going to switch to red line mt90 in the trans and mobile 1 in the engine. it's getting cold here in maine now (19 degrees) also, i have the stock DNLPS 245/75/16 and i wanna get the bfg at 265/75/16's. thoughts?

yes! sorry to stray off topic...does anyone have a theory as to why the difference? the only thing i can think of is that toyota maybe thinks people who buy the manual, tow more? and if towing you would want a lower gear at highway speeds?
