first off, i didnt want to register over at tundra solutions just for one question so im hoping someone here can answer it for me or give some possible solution...

its a 03 tundra access cab trd off road, 88k miles. check engine light came on a few days ago... we took it to auto zone and had them read it... came back as some emissions code... (the dude was of no help and thats all he said) gas cap was on too.... idk if the gas cap is just bad.... he says it used to release pressure when he opens it but does not now... none of my cars (except the pre taco) release pressure so im not sure that could be it.

    anyone have any ideas?

    thanks!

My 02 tundra gave me an emissions code at about 60,000 miles. The code was for the 02 sensors (2 of them), they where covered under a 80,000 mile warranty. I was told it was a fairly frequent issue on the truck. Can't be certain but maybe thats his issue.

The engine light came on in my girlfriends jeep yesterday. I went to autozone and asked them to plug in and get the code, them bitches told me Autozone doesn't read engine codes anymore. :(

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Without knowing the exact code, we can only speculate. Try another auto parts store.

Buy a ScanGauge II. It's a fun toy and pays for itself pretty quickly.

California has changed the laws. They no longer let autozone or similar facilities do the check. You cant even rent the code reader anymore. Gosh damn California!

I mean can you buy one in California. I know the stores aren't allowed to read or provide them for use, but do they still sell them?

sweet thanks! i will try and get the truck from him one day and get the codes read again.. i will mention the 02 sensors to him also. im wondering if this is the problem because we haven't changed anything like that since he bought the truck.

and im about to buy a scan guage II for the current car (p.o.s. santa fe) you can switch cars with the same one cant you? will be buying a taco in the next year or so... want to pull the scan guage out and put it in the truck.

Works with any vehicle with an OBDII port, which is pretty much all of them from the past 15-20 years.
