The W59 was meant for the 150HP 3RZ and unfortunately won't hold up to the 500-600HP it will be making. I could swap in an R series 5-speed, but with the truck becoming more and more 'race oriented', a semi-auto A340 seems to be the way to go. I'll probably get the engine dynoed so I can have a custom torque converter built locally. Some upgrades to the valve body, clutches, and heat/cryo treatment should create a trans that can take way more than what I'm planning for.

That's a fuck ton of horses for a 4 banger! Hell the most I think I've heard of the V6 making was 300 iirc

That is 1/8" rubber diamond plate. They sell it local here at Princess Auto by the foot. I saw a place online that sold it in like 4'x4' sections. It cuts pretty easy with a scissors.

Clips are from ClipsAndFasteners. You basically need something to fit an 8mm hole. These are for a Honda but I liked the screw type.

Has anyone ever fitted a 2nd Gen bed mat in a 1st gen? Just wondering how "off" it would be to make one fit, if anyone has done this before? Guy in my town is selling one for $15 bucks.

My setup can hold a lot more, but I wanted to put focus on low end power/ torque. I know there are a few 2RZ/3RZ builds making around 1200. I'm sure the v6 is capable of more than 300, even on stock internals.

Because of all the fiddly bits I would use Corroseal rust converter/primer. That's what I used on my frame and it worked great. It dries as a black primer (latex I think) and will treat spots you couldn't reach by sanding or whatever. Then use a flat black rust paint.

Best bed mat you'll ever buy is a horse stall mat, just cut to fit and boom it'll last forever.

I can get them around here for $20 from local farmer. They are very thick and heavy duty!

On Saturday I changed spark plugs and 2 idler pulleys.

On my 2004 the factory air intake needed to me removed to access 2 of the 4 spark plugs.

So I tackled the exhaust manifold change out on my son's truck yesterday. I open things up and discover the po was already in there and welded up the manifold! Did not last very long, multiple fractures found. IMG_2548.jpg IMG_2550.jpg IMG_2551.jpg

New Headlights. No more "old man glaucoma" taco.

    new peepers.jpg old and new.jpg

The new ones are TYC CAPA certified from RockAuto for 41.79 each.

After removing/loosening 4 18mm bolts on the bottom, then a couple up higher I was able to pivot the brushguard down. Grill removal was simple using a screwdriver to pop the clips. I am not a fan of the way the turn signals are installed, some minor piece (blue) is missing on the driver side and that one is loose. I need to align them, but I didnt bother this weekend.

I also removed the fog lights. At least the person who put it in did a proper job, there was a relay installed near the battery.

Maybe I will scrap the brushguard. I am thinking do a Satoshi style grill. Some hexagon mesh or something and spray paint it dark bronze.
