ill try and keep this short. Just hoping for as specific answer to my question. If possible, not opinions just actual facts or personal experience.

I received an email from Borla saying if I purchased there system I would expect 7-10 HP gain and 1 MPG. As odd as this may sound to some of you, if this is true then I would order one tomorrow. In my case this is not about the money as I understand there are options to do this less expensive.

I came out of a a Raptor so I got a little spoiled. I may be buying one this fall when they come out. Not decided yet. The problem is that I don't believe I will get 7-10 HP and 1 more MPG. I'm sure it "may" sound slightly better. I'm also sure I would most not likely "feel" 7hp or 1 mpg..

So, to summarize I feel like the only thing I would get is "noise". Does Borla Dyno the new exhaust as I cannot find this information. My truck is a 16 4x4 Long Bed Sport with new Toytec suspension and a few more things.

    Thank you in advance. Scott.

I've always taken those kind of claims with a grain of salt. They usually quote those numbers with an asterisk that it's flywheel gains and not at the wheel. That much at the flywheel translates into practically nothing at the wheels.

I had an MBRP race exhaust on a 14 mustang which claimed an almost 20hp gain. I didn't believe it for a second. Didn't feel it either. I bought it because I thought it sounded awesome on the 5.0.

without a dyno wouldn't touch one, and 7-10 is a bit much, maybe 2-5hp gain tops

I really appreciate it! That is exactly what I suspected. I may be alone and of course it is only my opinion but personally feel Toyota fell just a little short on performance on the new Tacoma. Overall I'm happy with my truck and it's a fine product. Still just there is so much more current technology available that could have given the truck more HP and Torque without sacrificing fuel economy and reliability. As a very simple comparison but not necessarily fair comparison, the 17 Highlander will have more HP, more Torque, and better fuel economy. I doubt anybody cares what I do, but I'm planning on going back to my Raptor end of this year. I had 2 of them. Never had 1 issue. Fuel economy was NOT good but I believe it will be slightly better in the 2017 model. Thanks again!

Well if you're going back to a Raptor why waist your time on a Borla for your Taco, you won't get a better trade in with it, probably to the contrary since not everyone wants a loud truck, most actually don't. At least your new

The 16 Taco doesn't "look" loud like the Raptor your going back to. I think they are ugly and well a Ford. To each his own. Good luck with your switch. I'd leave the Borla at the factory. What's the point?

7-10HP? Not much anyways. If you are looking for an increase in power.... it takes lots more to get it to where you will notice it.

Funny. Not OP specifically but many folks in general on the forums would spend $1000+ to gain 1 mpg and 5hp...then turn around in the same breath and say they want to lift their truck, bigger tires, etc. Next thing you know they're defending the trucks poor fuel economy performance: "don't buy a truck if you're concerned about fuel economy" or "don't buy a truck if you want a fast vehicle". It's a small v6 why buy an exhaust? Might as well buy a v8 if you want a powerful sounding motor.

It's your money brother, pay for what you enjoy the money getting you. None of us had to put in work to get you what you want, so "all the power" to you.

I'll be working towards one after a few other projects, but doing so for my own reasons, which will primarily be the sound to help make my Tacoma a little more aggressive. I realize the MPG increase and HP will be nominal and only noticed (if at all) in my own mind.

When I drive around, I do so for myself and my kids, as they love it. Everyone else is can do as they wish.

So buy it if something in you wants it, but if for the facts of the gains, then not worth it.

    * didn't address the technical stuff as the first post there is what I would have had set anyway.

I have owned two raptors and a F150 with Ecoboost. All had MBRP exhaust sounded great, but didn't notice much gain in horsepower. Today I just traded in my wife's 2015 GT mustang again with MBRP exhaust, and I am hoping my hearing will come back lol! For me it's all about the sound! I don't care what I gain, all I want is noise when I push on the gas! MBRP is coming out with exhaust for 16 Taco soon. I am holding out for that system, taking me all I have to hold off and wait for it lol!

I used to work at Borla. They dont lie. They dyno every vehicle in and on the way out. Its all rear wheel numbers. I can try to get a hold of someone and get an actual dyno sheet but I would believe it. back in the day they made a kit for a v6 Mustang (2000 era) to a dual exhaust. It gained 27 rear wheel hp. crazy.

So it depends on the vehicle and how restrictive it is factory.

Want to hear a little secret??? Borla made the TRD cat back exhaust.

The owner is too prideful to tie his name to lies.

That sounds pretty good. Any chance you can direct me to a video or someway to get credible dyno information on the 16 Tacoma. I'll take your word for what you are saying. Thank u,

$1000 for 1 mpg will take about 200k miles to break even.. (assume 20mpg w/o the exhaust at $2/gal, 21 mpg with the exhaust). So it's not a good investment... all you'll be getting is the louder sound, slight hp improvement (2-5 hp I'd guess), but hurting resale since most people in the world don't want a loud truck.

    None... sigh
Your money, your truck. Would like to see the tech details though. Personally, not into loud, but I may do a reroute to get a little more clearance.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Cat back? Or complete + headers?
