For the 10 millionth time, this thread is a thread about vibrations related to a specific rpm range and not related to speed therefore not related to driveshaft or tires/wheels.

Pretty sure he was just trying to help. And considering this thread has grown, I doubt he read thru all 60+ pages.

To clarify, some of us have vibration (including myself) on deceleration from 25 mph to a complete stop. The feeling of driving over a rumble strip. Not saying its driveshaft-related but its possible that its a separate issue.

@tacobamba Have you experienced any of the aforementioned vibration? I'm in the NOVA area too.

Think I addressed this before but since then Toyota has denied anything is wrong. interestingly enough they gave me an 8 year, 125,000 mile extended warranty in case anything does go wrong. Don't have to worry - i sold the truck with under 5000 miles. Bought a new frontier and love it. If you're like most people and bought tacoma because they're bullet proof and popular you'd be shocked if you drove the frontier. This is my last post as i no longer have the tacoma.

Yes, I have the deceleration shudder as well. It isn't intense, but it is noticeable. And it is NOT the transmission downshifting since it happens as well in Neutral (I have a manual transmission).

300 miles on mine and I notice a slight vibration in just the pedal when accelerating. Not awful, just slightly annoying. It seems fairly consistent across all RPMs. I will be calling corporate to file my complaint. I am keeping my hopes up that this will be resolved.

I want to thank the owners who have taken the time to post in this forum. I've been following it since its inception in Oct. of 2015. Because of the posts early on I postponed my purchase of a new Tacoma until Toyota resolved this vibration issue. It's now obvious that there is not going to be a resolution for current owners. Toyota has said its a normal vibration for this vehicle, which appears to be true since some members on the forum drove multiple vehicles on the dealers lot and they all had the vibration to some extent.
To date there are 61 pages of comments by owners, I haven't gone through the 61 pages to count the number of vehicles with the vibration, but if it's 3 or 4 per page, that's 93 to 250 vehicles with owners who are concerned enough with the problem to take it online looking for resolve.
Toyota is unable to keep up with demand, selling in the neighborhood of 15,000 units per month, if the number of owners bringing this issue to light on this forum is at all representative of the number of complaints Toyota receives about the vehicle, I'm sure it's considered an acceptable number of disgruntled customers in relation to unit sales, by corporate.
I would never be satisfied with a vehicle with this vibration issue, and now would be hesitant to purchase any Toyota vehicle, after observing corporates response to the problem and its customers.
Owners thanks again for posting the issue and Toyotas response to you, I'm taking my purchase elsewhere.

Actually, its not obvious what, if anything Toyota will do. The truck has only been out for about 6 months, the issue, if acknowledged by Toyota internally, less than that. With a potential cost of repair in the millions of dollars and the time it takes to fully qualify a fix a resolution won't be fast. Feel bad for those with this issue but, its not obvious what Toyota's plans are.

No, I don't. Knock on wood. I only have 180 miles on my truck though.

Well, my dealership Asst Service Manager, who is also my assigned advisor, just informed me that they "haven't seen or heard anything more about this issue", that I'm the only one who seems to have a problem with it; and, that Toyota just informed him that they consider the Tacoma to "perform as designed". He went on to ramble something about it not really being an issue at all and that they "couldn't keep Tacomas in stock."

I then dropped a call on my friend, the fleet manager. He informed me that he'd happily give me "more in trade than what you paid us for it" as he had willing buyers. I told him to start looking for a replacement, NOT another Tacoma. We'll see what he comes back with. I'm personally getting burned out by this issue and the lack of a cogent response from Toyota.

That sucks. At least they're giving you a good deal on the trade. I'm going to give mine at least 9 months and if they never come out with a remedy, I'll trade it in.

Wow, I hope you do get a good deal on it.
I just traded mine in this last week, saw a 15% hit (40K to 34K) on the value, but it was worth getting rid of it. I got tired of things vibrating themselves apart, and having the QC issue (low fluids, no grease). My personal opinion is that some of these trucks are going to grenade themselves in the future from owners who didn't jump on these issues early.

Shoot, it's sad to hear you guys trading in, but it's mirroring my own mind. Unfortunately what the heck do I trade it in for? I guess maybe a frontier or xterra...

It's unfortunate, as I'd love to wait this out, but with summer coming, this will start preventing me from making trips.

If I could have waited I would have waited for the Ridgeline, but I didn't want to risk getting another 1st year model.

Did you call toyota corporate and let them know why you traded in and specifically mention this issue? If you didnt, could you please for the sake of us other owners that are not in a position to be able to take a hit like that?

Unfortunately if people don't actually call one of the 200 corporate service reps, the info has a slimmer chance of ending up on management's desk. Even the reps I have spoken to when calling corporate say that you can't always rely on the dealership to report. And they don't always pull from the dealer when looking at issues. They will pull the info to see what solutions have been attempted, but the main driver is people actually calling corporate.

Not Internet posts, not trading in, not telling the dealer, but actually calling the corporate number.

And of course if you have called, thank you!

Hi Doobiewah, I certainly am not questioning this reported trade-in value, and I have seen several others post what I would consider pretty good trade-in values as well. But this makes no sense to me. Fortunately, my Sport with about one thousand miles does not have this problem (YET), but I hold my breath every time I drive it for fear that today will be the day it develops. But if the problem is as bad as you and some others report (AND I DO BELIEVE THAT IT IS), then why would any dealer offer such a high trade in knowing that the issue exists. Obviously, the problem is not repairable (at least at this time) or it would have been done by now. And surely, any prospective buyer is going to test drive a used vehicle and immediately notice the problem if it is that bad and then not follow through with the sale. So it would appear to me that the dealer is now just stuck with the vehicle. And perhaps that is the way it should be. If enough dealers get stuck with such vehicles that cannot be resold, then maybe corporate will finally get serious about fixing the problem.

As far as Toyota is concerned, there is no problem. If they reduce the value by saying there is an issue, I would ask them to fix the issue. Since there is no fix, it will just sit there... eventually you should be able to claim the lemon law, because that is basically what it is - an unfixable problem that is hurting the value of your vehicle.

Hopefully the dealer will never be able to sell and will complain to Toyota as you said.
