Yep, looks pretty good. Although I have a truck and trailer, this would be very handy in a number of situations. My only concern is locking it to the hitch, but I'll investigate that. Thanks!

I used the third strap on the rear when my wife was done riding the quad. We had a long way to go over some tough crawling. I floated the quad off of the front bed wall and the bumper didn't rub on the head rail

I took my canoe out for the second time since owning this truck. It's super easy to load and haul. I'd have no issues taking this on the highway either. OEM rook rack is perfect for a canoe. For my kayak, I just load it in the bed.2016-03-26 14.41.29.jpg

Seriously mad right now that thule or yakima hasnt came out with a bed rack that clears the roof yet. I ended up buying a "universal" from costco. when it arrived it said not recommended for tacoma. doesnt mount. Why is it so f'in hard to find a bed racks that clear the roof and come off. I know they redesigned the bed rail but com'on already this truck has been out long enough!

Don't hold your breath waiting for Yakima , but I have heard that Thule is coming out with the new mounts for the 3rd gens, they stated they should be available by the third week of May.

Just saw this thread, back to 2011 I was a senior in high school, my truck was fairly stock then. Miss that bike though!

I used my Thule 422XT rack for awhile. I think I'm probably gonna go another route though. Great rack but I only use it for my kayaks and it has tons of other possibilities. I'll be posting it in the for sale thread within the next couple days if anyone is interested. Here's a stock photo...I hate to get rid of it but I just don't use it as much as I thought I would....

/\ that Thule rack that will be for sale! It clears the roof line and has the adapters for the bed rail. My kayak fits fine on top doesn't hit anywhere. Yakima has the Outdoorsman 300 but I'm not sure about the attachment for the rail.
I have as 16 foot old town canoe that fits w/o any issues.

Yes, my Thule clears the roof easily. I have 10 foot old town kayaks that I usually put on mine and they easily extend over the roof. I have all the brackets for tacoma and then some.

We bought this and assembled it on Friday. A welded nut broke off and it's going back on Monday. They already agreed to give us a full refund.

It's a good design but poorly welded

I think I read that Thule hadn't made the adapters for the 3rd gen in someone else's post. So I can't say for sure. This rack mounts on top of the bed and clamps on the bed rails. As long as the rails themselves haven't changed in relation to the measurement between the rails and the top of the bed I'd think they would still work. I have my rack for sale in the Buy/Sell/Trade section now.

I've posted these pics in another thread, but thought I'd post here too. Sadly, I sold my R1.

Bike setup: Baxley Sport Chock and 4 CCR Sport tie down hooks I had from my Fronty (used T-slot nuts to work on the Taco).

    MTB setup: Kuat Dirtbag
