Our main guy does both, our second guy does low voltage and surveillance systems and is a comm cable running fiend.

Beautiful work, hopefully he can do it. He's retiring next year, unfortunately, though it's always nice to have electricians on back up so keep any suggestions coming for Solano area.

Agreed. I can run cat 5 but im over qualified to do so. Also the low voltage techs will have more experience and tools to do it right and cost you less. They generally are less expensive and thats all they do. I know how to and do my own but im not certified in data comm. But im certified as a general electrician.

Yeah, that's the thing. You can get someone who does a good job or a hack. The later sucks. I only know peeps from the South Bay. But you could try Business Telephone Exchange in Campbell. They do some structured cabling and biz telephone installs

My dad made our cables and then stopped for about a decade, then could never get good at it again. Literally spending an hour and a half trying to get a good connection on the RJ45.

And it still didn't work. :D

So he gave all of the wiring equipment away and we have used pre made cables since, except when new runs are needed then they're farmed out to an electrician to run them through walls and then adding boxes so we can just plug into them and keep things clean.

Its pretty straight forward. I have the tools and tester, what restaurant?.. how soon you looking to do the work? If your will to do it on the side i could help you knock it out. If your just rerouting a few cables and adding boxes is easy. If you need it asap i would a service tech.

Well yeah. The goat is the wife. Personally, I never go to Starbucks unless my wife wants to go.

Starbucks is great on the road when you want to use a bathroom that doesn't require suppressing your gag reflex. I usually leave there with an empty bladder, decent black coffee, and a goddamn Jack Johnson song stuck in my head.

Except for when I treat myself and get a half caf, nonfat, soy, double shot, extra whip, caramel machiado, with a shot of cherry Torani sauce.
