I'm going to buy the 17" TRD rims like these to replace my TRD OR 2WD stock 16" rims

    http://parts.olathetoyota.com/oe-toyota/ptr2035110bk

I was going to get them at the Toyota dealer here in San Antonio but the guy sent an email saying this below and he also sent an invoice attached hear

Please see attached price quote for wheels and sensors. I spoke with one of our techs who is very knowledgeable and he says you can go with 265/70/17 without any concern or spacers required but will probably need the sensors.

Do I really need new sensors and are they the biggest tires!

If you have alloy wheels the sensors should swap, even though the new wheel is 1" larger. 265/70/17 is generally the largest tire safely advised without running into rubbing issues, 1" larger than stock.

Thanks for the info, He told me it would be $800.00 for the rims but I found them at http://parts.olathetoyota.com/oe-toyota/ptr2035110bk

    For $745.00 shipped!

I was going to wait for the SCS RAY10's but how knows when they will come out!

taco stomper.jpg I run those wheels and BFG KO2's 265/70/17. Zero rubbing on my rig with no suspension mods and TPMS functions flawlessly with the sensors from my factory 16" OR 4x4 wheels.

The sensors swap right out between the stock 16 inch OR wheels and the 17 inch TRD Pro wheels. You can even use the same lug nuts.

That's what I used when I did the same upgrade on 265/70/17 tires and stock suspension.

The sensors will work but be advised if you have mud flaps you most likely will have some minor rubbing. I decided against these wheels because I didn't want to have problems down the road installing tires. If you plan on a lift you won't have any problems.

You decided against these wheel to avoid problems down the road installing tires? Don't the Sport and the Limited come with factory 17's? Not really sure i follow your logic on that one. If your worried about tires rubbing your "flaps" when running a 17" wheel, go with a 65 series tire like the one that comes factory on the 17's....

Factory rims are 7.5" width. 265/65/17 come stock on the Sport. The TRD PRO rims are 7" width. 265/65/17 won't work, you need to put a 265/70/17 tire on those rims. Half the posters here say they don't rub but from my reading those guys don't have mud flaps. The guys reporting minor rubbing have mud flaps. Supposedly all you need to do to eliminate rubbing is a little trimming but I'd rather not have that restriction.

This is super random so I apologize, but does anyone have any idea what one of the stock 16" TRD OR wheels weighs? Been trying to find it every place I could think of with no succes

Like others have said you will be fine. Just switch your sensors and use your stock lugs. You will love the wheels. Changes the entire look of the truck!

I will have to look them up but I believe so. Mine came from a Toyota dealer in CA. TRD SEMA PRO 17". I'll hunt down the invoice and verify the part # layer on today.

Did you have to drill at all?

I had to drill out the holes in the slider brackets to fit the hardware supplied, they were just a little too small for the bolts to go through but I did not have to drill any additional holes and nothing in the frame. The sliders didn't come with mounting instructions so I lined everything up to existing holes in the frame and filled them all with bolts.

I guess you could go nuts and drill more holes to add more hardware. I don't use the truck for rock crawling so I won't be dropping the truck on the sliders, just more protection to slide bounce away from trees and high rocks / obstructions, as a jacking point for a high lift and as sturdy steps for mounting the SUPs to the roofrack.

They are more than secure for those applications.

Just looked at the CBI website and it looks like they've moved to a different style, with kickouts installed only. When I ordered mine you could differentiate which style you preferred (with or without kickouts) and installation did not require any drilling. Looks like the addition of the kickouts now require that.

Give them a call and ask for specifics if you're interested.

Thank you! It seems that all '16 mods info is coming more from trial and error and word of mouth.
