    Per your request. I went through it in 2wd as well.

    I don't understand where you are trying to go with this thread. Yes in some situations a 4x4 will be desirable to a prerunner but it also works the other way.

    No need to argue. They are lighter therefore would lead me to believe they are faster. So street performance is better, may be minimal but better none the less.

    Also anything with speed and momentum such as going fast in the desert. Not saying a 4x4 taco can't do it also it's just, once again, heavier.

    From a maintenance aspect it's one less thing to worry about.

    They could use lift spindles.

    Don't have to worry about cv boots ripping so they are easier to lift or could be lifted more without as much worry.

    Due to lacking cv shafts one could obtain more suspension travel out of one with a lt kit.

    Some still apply. IFS is better in the sand at speed. Also solid axles are heavier than a prerunner.

    Don't get me wrong though, I love a solid axle taco and they are in a league of their own.

    i am Extremly confused here. for all the people say 2wd just as capable do they forget that a 4wd can switch to 2wd mode? and 4WD can come with lockers too. so what other then the weight and cost is there advantage. i do understand that MOST people DONT NEED THE 4WD but i rather have it and not need it then need it an not have it.
    Its all about aplication if it is a taco then whocares.

    Pre-runners are great trucks. Made to be able to thrash around and have less breakage.


    4x4 was made to pull the pre-runners out.lol

    They are good for some people, with a locker they can go many places.

    If you are refering to me I never said they are as capable as 4x4's. That is way too general of a comment. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

    Check my previous post listing the advantage of 2wd over 4wd.

    I've never been stuck in mud (going uphill even) in my PreRunner. I've been stuck in sand twice. (FWIW)



    I'm not talking about those giant puddles either. Real legitimate mud. Ask a few SoCal members.
