Help selecting a lift

    Nope! My truck only has 18k miles, so I don't think I'd need it. Not positive what the ECGS bushing is really for.

    I'm at 105k. I imagine I'll just do it. I've heard it will make a nasty noise after a lift if it's bad

    Yeah, might as well. I haven't installed diff drop, axle shims, CB drop, or any of that and I don't notice any vibrations or noises.

    Will this suffice to do the springs? I have set of these that I used to use to do lowering springs back in high school. Always worked good for that.

    I would not trust those. Follow the video I posted earlier and you'll have no problems.

    Don't bother with the diff. Drop, but do get the driver side spacer. Left mine out not knowing the OEM springs are different l to r. Need to put it in now.

    I used to do lowering springs for all my friends back in the day. Did a ton of them. I always threaded a ratchet strap in there too in case it flew apart

    I watched a couple videos of using the floor jack and leaving the stop seat in place, and that looks super easy! I hope like hell my LCA bolts break free, maybe I should start spraying them with blaster now!

    Same here, minus the strap. The coils for my truck are a little different than the lowering coils on my old xB though, made it a little more puckering.

    Just be cautious and exercise common sense. Luck plays into everything, but 99/100 if you do your stuff right you won't have catastrophic failure.

    I bit the bullet today. I ordered more than I intended.

    1/2" top plate spacer, light racing UCA, 5100s, bilsteins(set at zero), and 2" add a leaf. Going to go for a full 3" Why not? I have it apart, I only want to do this once, and I want my alignment spot on. I do not want to deal with tearing up tires and a weird highway ride. I put a good amount of miles on my vehicles, 25k a year is the norm. Still planning on running 265s. It'll only be a half inch taller than what I set out to do. I am hoping my LCA bolts come loose with no problems, soaked the hell out of them with acetone/atf spray.

    I'll post up some pictures when it's all together. Truck is parked and up on jack stands now, front tires off, brakes apart, rear tires off, drums pulled, going to give it a solid cleaning underneath, and do the EGCS bushing awhile its apart. Going to check out all the other stuff under there as well.

    Thanks, I thought about running a 285, but reading about rubbing issues, ect. A friend of mine just went with a 35" tire and he is having all kinds of trouble with his stability control kicking in on turns for no reason..

    285s seem to have a wealth of problems. Once I go up in tire size, I'm gonna go 275/70r17, or 33x10.5x17. The width of the 285s is what seems to cause the most problems.

    I had a set just like that.....I was compressing a pair of coils for the front end of a '68 big block Camaro. I wound 'em down and set the coil in an upright position on my work bench. After I got everything ready to install the springs, I walked over to where they were sitting on the bench. Just as I went to reach for one, the lower castings broke. The spring kicked down, busting a spot out of the 2-ply 3/4" plywood bench, and flew UP, going THROUGH the drywall ceiling in the garage. I had to climb in the attic to go find the spring. Had I been a step closer, it would have probably nailed me. This was 30+ years ago. I take my coils to a shop to have 'em compressed now, or do them using the weight of the truck and a floor jack, or else buy struts already assembled.

    Couldn't PAY me to use those things anymore.
