The spoken owner backed out... apparently didn't want the pup after they found out about the injury. Breeder has not changed that yet.

Ah okay well I say go for it man I mean imho a dog is family to me I wouldn't turn a family member away cause of an issue the dog will still be a loving pet regardless. I mean my Rottweiler of 13 years just passed away a week ago and I mean it was real hard saying goodbye. I'm just trying to say regardless of health issues they'll still be there for you.

Not sure what you mean or are referring to... the listed owner backed out, breeder called me, knowing that I was looking for a bulldog with alternatives to adopting at their full adoption fee. They are waiting to hear back from me, and they say that the dog could come home with me today if I wanted him and drove down to get him.

So sorry man... my last dog KC was a rottie, and I had to put her to sleep last year due to cancer... was the most heart-breaking, heart-wrenching experience of my life.

You're gonna paypal me money for the gas to go and pick him up?? lol

Send me half the cost and I'll give you naming rights :D

It sounds like you want the dog, everybody here wants you to get the dog, and you've had some very generous offers to help you out. Go get the dog, start a savings account with his name on it for emergency expenses, and enjoy your life together.

I looked at the picture again...so damn cute. Don't wait, jump in head first. When looking at pet insurance, make sure you get actual insurance for major bills/procedures and not the preventative care insurance.
Like others have said, you seem committed and sound like you would take care of him. There is something to be said about getting the dog no one wants. Could be your doggie-Cinderalla. Unless they are in pain, dogs don't care about themselves. Dogs are the only animals I have ever come across that care more about you than the care about themselves.

People have dogs all the time that have eyes removed or are blind in one or both eyes. I don't see any lingering effects from it. My wife had a childhood dog that had an eye removed due to cancer in the middle of its life and it kept on going and never missed a beat. Dogs aren't people. They don't sit around and mope and feel sorry for themselves. Get the dog and it will love you unconditionally as you should it.

FWIW there isn't a dollar amount high enough that I wouldn't find a way to fork over if my dog ever needed anything. He is family. Like a son. Just a lot hairrier...

Also - when we adopted him, he had worms and was malnourished to the point that his teeth were falling out. He had already racked up $300 in vet bills while with the rescue group but in the one picture we saw of him we knew he had to be ours. We drove 2 hours to get him from our home. We probably spent another $300 in vet bills during his first few months with us. It's been 5 years since and I wouldn't change a thing. It seems you have the same reaction to this pup in the pic as we did and you don't need to find a reason NOT to get it. Just do it! You won't regret it

Having recently adopted a female black lab pup who is now 4.5 months old you won't have any more fun than with your new baby boy. I love my little girl more and more every day and seeing her getting more adventurous and discovering new things is so much fun. Just FYI try bell training for going outside. My pup picked it up in a couple of days and has made potty training a breeze. Now she rings the bells to go out and pretends to pee so she can get treats lol

My parents has a boxer at home. He was actually my dog at first but when I went to college he stayed with my parents and he never left there. When he was about 4yrs old he developed cataract in the right eye and just got worst from there. But he still has the left eye at 100% and that just made him unique and special. Very loving dog and very protective. We love that dog and hes close to 10yrs old now. Being realistic, I know sooner or later we'll have to say our goodbyes and I know it's going to be devastating but I wouldn't trade our time with him for anything.

So yea minor eye issue here and there aint nothing. Good luck OP.
