Seems like a great idea the only thing I wou;ld suggest is putting it somewhere odd such as in the bed or under the bumper somewhere really hidden

Thanks! I get quite a few thumbs up when driving and have caught people taking pics numerous times.

This I think would be the best. That will just unlock it from the outside with your hidden button like if you were pushing the "Unlock" button inside the truck.

Finally getting around to this! I think I have the perfect place to mount the button too. Should have results by this weekend.

So with this setup... could you park leaving the truck running, get out, close door then press hidden button to lock, go in store, buy a case of beer, come out to a locked truck, press hidden button to unlock, hop in and go?

IIRC, Tacomas won't let you lock the doors with the truck running. It'll automatically unlock itself, which is good and bad.

Looking at this image...I wonder if a two button setup where in the second button you use the purple - lock wire would accomplish being able to lock and unlock while leaving the truck running...

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure that even if you manually move the lock on the door with the door open, it'll unlock itself. It's worth a try though!

Oh wait I think I get what you're saying now. Once you get out and close the door, you hit the lock button but the truck thinks you're hitting the lock button on the inside. That should work.

There is a thing you can install in your door that will unlock your door to a pattern you program by knocking on the door. Only you would know the pattern and you can change the pattern as often as you like i beleive
    Idr the name of it
