That is why I have nieces and nephews. Much better and cheaper.

My sister lives in Utah and I'm thinking of picking up my 8 year old nephew and taking him camping in moab this summer. I think he'd have a blast and I never get to see him since he's so far away.

Sorry I'm late to the party. Crap is just out of hand around here!! Anyway....
This was my issue...so many white 4Runners. I wanted something different, so I painted my hood. Did so different things just to make it mine. Not trying to pat myself on the back...but I always have people give me a thumbs up or come over and ask about my rig...most really like the paint!! I say go for it!!

    image.jpg

I guess great minds think alike...haha!!

This is what a did. I bought my sport hood from Toyota, so I had to paint it anyway...that's when I decided to be different. I even cut out the center section of my hood scoop so it actually functions! Wasn't worried bout getting more air to the engine, but more air to help keep the engine cool...to help lower under hood temps.

Damn that looks great! Like the small black strips that accent the big one

Thank you sir for the compliment!! :yay: It's much appreciated!! Yeah the small black stripe was almost an afterthought...but made a huge difference. Was a major pain in the butt...but well worth it.

I need to take some new pictures...I now have my roof rack on and some additional lights. I'll have to get some taken when the weather breaks.

That looks good. I always played with the idea of vinyl wrapping mine. The paint on my 3rd gen isn't horrible but it has its blemishes like any other 16 year old vehicle. I never really had a reason to but now that I'm moving down to the pan handle of Florida, I may want to look into protecting my paint.

I've watched on TV guys doing that vinyl wrap...looks really cool. Unsure of cost?? Painting is exspensive...me and a buddy did all the labor on mine. Worked out a deal were I was able to get all materials at cost...IIRC I still spent $500 just in materials!! Paint these days isn't cheap. Now that did paint the bottom, the flares, bumpers, and the hood...still!

If you check into wrapping yours...would you mind sharing what the cost will be? Do you know how long those wraps last? Do you have to wax them...or just wash and go? Sorry about all the questions...I have another vehicle I might wrap. Thanks

Where are you moving to in Florida?? Is this a PCS move?

It all depends on the quality. I did a little bit of research on people that have done it and they spent around 500-700. I'm gonna look at other companies and get with my brother that's getting his e39 BMW done here this month. I would be doing it myself for sure to cut the labor costs.

I'll get with you when I find the answers to your questions cause you brought up a good question.

Yep PCS move. Going to Eglin AFB to work on F35's.

Cool...you get to let your brother be the Guinea pig for the wrap...haha! He'll be able to answer a lot of questions. I can see labor being a huge cost in this. I'm sure it's not to difficult to do.

Never been to Eglin, but Florida so nice....should be good duty station!! I hope you enjoy it! Wish you good luck!!

Yeah for sure! Yeah, Eglin is right next to Panama City so it should be good stuff. Thank you!

Picking up the 4Runner right now. The owner of the shop did the tie rods and alignment for free :)

Anybody ever thought to buy a designated trail rig? I think way far down the line, I want to buy an 85 T4R. SAS, Roll Cage, Lockers, the whole 9 yards. Would be a blast and some of them sell for under 1000 dollars here.

    Dream rig

I've thought about it, but I feel like 3 cars would be way to much maintained wise. Plus it would be hard to justify a moderately built rig and a full trail rig.

I can justify anything! haha Just kidding

I'm thinking a Jaguar F-Type as my next car, an 85 T4R as a trail rig, and a Tundra as a tow pig.

That would be a fun combo.

My GF wants to get a Rubicon, I'm sure she will keep that stock. So the 4Runner will be more of the dedicated trail rig.
