Hey guys and girls. I've recently completed a super cheap set of retrofit headlights {OEM style, Painted Black (BHLM), H1 Projectors, 2 SMD LED Halos per light}. I don't want to go into too much detail, but I just wanted be here for questions, answers and advice for anyone.

I bought an eBay cart with:
    ($80) Vision OEM Style Headlights
($18) 80mm White SMD halos + 100mm Amber SMD Halos***
($38) Mini H1 Style Bi-Xenon Projectors (same spec as Morimoto Mini-H1 4.0, but not sure on that)
($20) DDM Tuning Apollo 1.0 Shrouds
    ($30) Xentec HID Kit - H1, 35w Ballasts, 5000k bulbs
($14) H4 to Bi-Xenon Relay Harness*** (Had to go to autozone and make my own relay harness out of a SPDT relay and a SPST relay, I can post pics of my wiring layout on request)

Before you complain that I should be spending my money at places like The Retrofit Source and buying OEM parts, you should know that I'm a high school senior right now, getting ready to go to college. I got a job to pay for this and my other hobbies, so I didn't want to shell out a bunch of dough on some brand name stuff, as nice as that would have been. I can get money slowly, enough that I can replace parts that break with high quality stuff, but this should hold me down for a good while.

    Here's how they look:
    image.jpg
    Off. Passive Amber demon eye

    image.jpg
Marker Light setting (I have Amber marker lights, but they weren't in when I took the photo)
There's a white halo, an amber halo, and an active amber homemade demon eye

Low Beams on w/ fogs. Looks SICK at night!

Just curious, how is the headlight powered in the pic showing just the halo and sitting on work bench?

Yeah I wired all of the lights to splice into the marker light circuit and just contacted the main wires to a 9.6v drill battery

Looks great! Nothing wrong with saving some money. I might go this route since I don't have much Taco Mod money lying around lately.

Kind of a crappy, photo taken at dusk, but here is a picture of the light output. These headlights are very powerful in my opinion. Stronger and sharper light output compared to stock headlights with stock bulbs. Smooth color flicker effect that is visible when you drive behind a car and hit a bump in the road, flat and wide projection, no glare above cutoff like what you'd find in an aftermarket all-in-one headlight (I even had my "fog lights" on when I took the picture. They spew light everywhere with no real cutoff). Some may complain that the width of the beam and the crispness of the cutoff is not on par with the morimotos, and I'd never know, I've never owned morimotos, but for someone like me who was desperate for the retrofit look and output without putting my wallet on weight watchers, I couldn't be happier. From the rave reviews of the Morimoto products and The Retrofit Source's service, I would definitely go that route if I had the money, but I don't, so this is what I got!

It's also oil change time :)

Definately going to keep this in mind, maybe I can get it done after the semester ends. Would love some green or red demon eyes :D

I just painted the lens side of the Hi/Lo shield and metal plate and it gives off a sick look during the day. Totally worth it, the active demon eye amplifies it even more

I'll be keeping this idea in mind, would be a nice cosmetic alteration. Although may something to help with off road capabilities instead. :notsure:
Got any photos of your truck at night showing off them lights?

This iPhone camera just isn't getting the job done for me at low light, but this is the only other photo I have of them. Also, agreed on the off-roady bits for the prerunners. These things will get stuck in a heartbeat without locker/LSD's and other gear

Just have to know what you're doing behind the wheel, even without a locker or 4wd I've gone through things other have gotten stuck in with 4wd . Next upgrade it probably going to be some amber chase lights so no one rear ends me in the dunes

How did you attach the halos to the shrouds? I made a set a while back, but the halos came loose in the housing.

Bought some super thin picture hanging wire from Home Depot. I punched 4 holes in the shrouds for each halo and just twisted the wire behind the shroud around the ring where it's out of sight. You wouldn't notice the wire from outside unless you were looking for it. The Retrofit Source has a video up on YouTube on how to do it

    Couldn't agree more!
