I really really thought about SAS after my encounter with the ditch and broke the LCA. The 1st gen trucks seem easier than the 2nd gens. And I happened to find someone who was generous enough to give me an LCA for free. Not to mention the free UCA for a trail repair from being maxed out on lift.

How many $ would have been cut out by staying stock until you were ready to go all the way? That's my big slowdown.

Probably about $500-$600, depending how much I sell my Kings for.

5100's were $200, can't remember how much I sold that setup for but I think it was around $150. Kings were $1350, probably be able to sell them for about $950. Oh forgot about UCA's though.. New was $570 I think, probably sell them for $350 or $400. So a little more than what I thought before but not terrible.

Oh, and 37's and new wheels, let's see... Another $xxxx
Brian's saying of "buy once, cry once" is probably right.
But we are all learning by following his build! Thanks Brian! U saved me tons! I'll buy u beers next time.

That's kinda the tentative plan, straight to 37x12.50-16s of the same tire I have now.

I remember getting a King brochure with my bilsteins from DSM, looking at it and thinking "theres no way im ever spending that much money on a coil over"...

Not doing 37's though, wayyyyy too much cutting for that. Its insane

Lucky! I just dropped $600 on new LCAs from trdparts... I'm doing a complete front end refresh. Had my MT setup since 60k with 265/70/17 makes me wonder what kind of wear happens on 60k of LT!?

Heres what you gotta do to fit them.. Granted its a +3.5" kit but not going to be very much different.

You wear out ball joints/uniballs, wheel bearings, joints so much faster, much easier to break CV's etc.. Plus ill admit @dakotasyota is right on this one.. Are you ever going to be on a trail where a 37" tire can get you by but a 35" can't?

Yup. One of these days im gonna rescue that jeep on 40s, as payback.

Your point on how much work it takes is very valid. That's why I haven't lifted yet, and I'm not going to yet. I'm still figuring out what to do with this truck. I don't know what it can't do yet. I'm not scared to do drastic stuff, I'm just in the process of figuring out what's appropriate to my goals. Also figuring out my goals.

And I really don't think super white is all that super.

    This guy might fit in...

@Kappes03 The last guy I greeted didn't get sarcasm. He asked if all we did was mall crawling, so I invited him to our next meet at southcenter. Apparently it wasn't quite dripping with enough sarcasm. I tried apologizing...

Ha I remember that. We all kinda greeted him with sarcasm and it went right over his head.

Also @Kappes03 has a post count 10x that you or I have. I'm sure he'll fit right in and isn't afraid to speak up. ;)

That, and he complained we don't go wheeling... Not like there are many places to go in the spring.
