Even if they don't fix it, at least it's documented that I mentioned it.

they called this morning. they told me that the hood vibrating is normal. i'll likely just fix this myself or wait until a TSB comes out about it.

Contact another dealership, more than likely you'll get sent to an Auto Body shop but at least it'll be covered by Toyota. Buying the stuff to DIY will run about $100 - $200.

There's a bunch of quirks with this truck and yet to see any TSB's.

Once you realize how easy it is to fix the vibration on your own, you'll kick yourself in the ass for not doing it sooner rather than playing "hood tag" with the stealership.

i had it in for the low ATF. i'd likely have not made the trip over there for just the hood fluttering.

I traded hoods with @mesojdm last week and his dealership fix his hood. The body shop that did the repair applied 3M NVH in all the sections where the dampening material separated and the hood has been fine so far. Haven't noticed any vibration even in the triple digits. He even got the remaining tube of NVH from the shop in case I needed/wanted to apply more. Kudos to @mesojdm for that.

First just wanna say I own a 1st gen, not a 2nd or 3rd gen. That being said, the mpg and hood issue is not contained to just later years. With the 3.4L auto (230k miles) I average around 16-17mpg....hasn't changed in the 13 years I've had her. Also, the hood is separated from the bracing/supports. I haven't ever had a noise from it.....guess I lucked out lol. When I bought some Under hood insulation to replace falling apart original one, I just put some small rubber strips I cut in between as a just in case.

I will post pictures later but I got mine back from the dealership yesterday for fixing the hood and low tranny fluid. They sent it to a body shop and they went ape shit bananas with the epoxy Toyota sent over. They repainted the underside of my hood to hide where they put it all.

Find another dealer. Mine was 'fixed' but it's really not fixed. Looks like they stuck some bubble gum in there, lol.

They put new glue/epoxy around every rib in the frame. Did a decent job except in one area and it looks like shit! At least they painted over the goo so it was all orange.

I have a 4Runner Trail Premium as my loaner vehicle while they check out a few things and do the 5000 mile service on my Tacoma. The 4R has 500 miles on it, and the hood vibration is crazy bad. Waaaay worse than the little bit my Tacoma does it. It's crazy to me that any new vehicle would do this, but I guess that's just how Toyota designs them and they don't realize how much customers don't want that vibrating hood feature.

Just got mine back from the dealer. There is a bunch on the middle supports and they painted it to match. On my way home I discovered now the washer fluid sprayers aren't working :annoyed:
