Maybe I will get better traction in here,

I am starting to expand my tool bag in 2012 DCSB truck, I have a metric set of 3/8 ratchet and sockets. A couple of screw drivers and some pliers. To that I want to add a small electric repair kit (stripper, crimper butt connector), dead blow hammer and ball peen hammer. I have just picked up a couple of dewalt cordless impacts 1/4 and 1/2 drive and some metric impact sockets.

What am I over looking? I am trying to think/prepare for trailside repairs (cv shafts, broken lugs, pulling skid plates, busted u joints)

Any special tools, socket sizes, testers that I am overlooking?

Thinking weekend wheeling trip or a week long expeditionary type trip, I can not rely on others to have others to lean on if/when I ham something up.

Starting to put a parts list together as well. Any help would be amazing

It's a Toyota, bring extra fuel and get out there. I carry one of those 100 piece general tool kits, always made it home with it. If you go hard, carry a spare third member, axles, CV's, and wheel bearing already pressed into the hub. If you haven't already broken any of those things, you probably won't. At a certain point you realize a sat phone or SPOT is more useful than spares, because if you have it as a spare, it will never break. Murphy is a bastard.

Today we'll leave Death Valley by way of Harry Wade and head down to Afton Canyon to begin our drive across the Mojave. Don't know if I'm more looking forward to that or the $5 shower I'm going to take at the Furnace Creek Inn in an hour or so.

Can you re-seat a tire bead onto a wheel?

Many ways. A CO2 setup can put out a large amount of air at once and can reseat a bead. There is also the starting fluid/explosion method, which while cool is also more dangerous. Personally I learned the heavy duty strap and arb compressor route that seems safe and easy.

Probably the best and safest method I have ever used.

I should have quoted @Luke01, I was asking in response to his question about expanding his tool set.

I'm there now as well, but I do remember being a uni student and being on a very tight budget.

Oh I get it for sure. Been there. But some people get more confidence in their ability to froad when they get a winch and put themselves into stupid situations where winch failure could be bad bad. Not saying Cam, just a general statement.
