LOL, it seems whenever I post, it's about some debate between me and my friends, and this is no different.

So, a friend of mine and I put a Wheeler's 1.5" AAL on my rears. The way I saw it done on here showed it being placed on top of the overload leaf, and then the stock leafs sat on top of it. That's the way we put it on and it works/looks great, but he said it wouldn't matter if we put it in the middle or on top. I think that would affect the load differently. What do you guys say? Admittedly I'm not very mechanical, so I may be wrong.

Buddy is wrong. The leaf pack is progressively weighted when loaded until the overload kicks in. You would want the AAL between the OL and factory pack.
Placing at different levels will affect lift, ride quality, and load capacity, with negative results.

I don't know about the wheeler's specifically, but your bud could possibly be right, some long leaf AAL's are meant to be put into the leaf pack as the second longest leaf. Basically it should be in between whatever the next longest and next shortest springs.

The Wheeler's AAL is supposed to go on the bottom and above the overload leaf. I can't imagine having it in between leaves with those anti friction pads on the ends...

Easiest way to say it for any situation: Longest to shortest, from top to bottom, with overload the last one. Like I said, it depends on how long the AAL is.

yes this is true for every situation no matter the manufacturer. Should be progressive like stairs... then overload on the bottom touching the shortest leaf.

Only "AAL" that i know of that is not supposed to go at the bottom of the stock pack just above the overload is the dakar AAL meant for the dakar leaf pack. Other than that all the tacoma AAL's go just above the overload.
