Eh. That depends on what you want out of the truck more then anything.

Id consider doing outboard via homemade or TC kit. But you'd have to run spacers.

The shocks you have, I'm assuming since you said 2.0, are foxes and are revalveable so going inboard isn't an issue if you take the time to tune the shocks.

Right and for DD, mountain driving, Most moderate trails, I think I will be okay with this setup. Let me elaborate on outboard. I meant inboard of the frame but getting them as far towards the wheels as I am able.

Gotcha. That will be fine. With 10" you'll have to angle them to keep them from bottoming out as they won't be short bodies. Get some new bumps too like timberlands or the wheelers

Yep that's the plan! Do you know the height of the wheelers by chance?

I am curious about this too. Of course its the compressed size that matters. I have the timbrens. They are ~4" tall uncompressed. The Superbumps will be similar uncompressed.

I'm thinking I have a way to make the outboard setup simple and to prevent tire rub( with the right tire and wheel backspacing) but still allow a 13" shock without going through the bed and not having the lower mounts hang below the axle. Have to do some testing with some idea this summer.

Cantilevered would be the only way that fits that bill unless you have a 6in lift or something.

Calling me out for making jabs and then you do the same thing yourself?

Anyways, you seemed to miss the last line of that post you quoted, which explains that in drawing influence from others on here, yourself included, I created a functional setup, but one that is far from ideal. They'll be redone shortly to better suit my needs based on knowledge I've gained through the process and over the time I've had them setup that way.

As has been mentioned in the last several pages, people tend to promote thing on here as gospel, and a younger, less-educated me used to take that info as gospel. I'm merely sharing my experiences as I've had them. I certainly never claimed my rear setup was ideal either.

Yes, I am in fact smart enough to grasp the concept. But the distance of the shock travel relative to the axle travel will be a ratio dependent on the angle they're mounted at.

That diagram is correct, given that specific angle of mounting. I've never seen a shock be nearly horizontal at full compression. That's a much more drastic angle than most of us are mounting our shocks at. It would require a lower and further back crossmember.

I still stand by my comment that your shocks limited your vertical travel, mine do too, which was my main point to begin with.

Anyways, I'm going to drop it and leave well enough alone. Continue to make jabs if you wish....

This is the most important component to every mod discussion, most notably suspensions, that too often gets lost.

I see a lot of posters go overboard with mods they will never truly use.

For me I was able to go wherever I wanted to go off road on a stock 4x4 TRD, with 180,000 miles on the suspension.

A simple full OME set up is more than enough to continue to take me wherever I want to go.

Cool, doesn't your tire hit the shock body though on compression?

Yes, on full compression. I'm pretty sure I can eliminate it. Idk just have to try.

I don't sadly. I have photos of them compressed though. And I didn't measure them..ha I bet Dan would know @Wheeler's Off-Road, Inc

So true. Everyone just buys shit they think they need or want. Forgetting that knowing what you want out of the rig is most important and how little is needed for what most people want. Like lockers for example. I still believe learning to offroad all open pays off in dividends when you get a locker. You know how to pick lines better. Which goes along to learning how to drive offroad in the first place. Most people hardly go offroad before they start slapping shit on. I beat on my truck stock for years. As did you and others. Truck was totally capable as is.
