Btw, what are your stats, if you don't mind me asking? i.e. height, weight, estimated bodyfat %, big 3 #'s...

I'm no pro, but I have worked hard to get here so I am proud of my numbers: 5'11", 235, bodyfat...never really measured but I would guess around 20% (now, probably closer to 30% a year ago), Squat: 375, Bench: 295, Deadlift: 465. My goals were to hit a 300 Bench/400 Squat/500 Deadlift before this summer - my wedding is June 18th. I will definitely be able to get the bench, but squat and deadlift are probably going to fall short.

Nice, man! You've got me beat in weight (I'm 205) and in squat by 10 lbs and by about 60 lbs in deadlift (my bench is 315). There's definitely some powerlifter-type dudes in here you can rub dicks with (@mightytacoman, @manethon, @t4r4life, @SLO/TACO), but the majority of us are shallow assholes who only strive for aesthetics....AMIRYTE?!

Although my next lifting goals are a 360 bench, 390 squat, and a 460 dl...long way away though. I like a strength/aesthetics combo. What's the point of having all those muscles if ya can't do anything with them!?

    Welcome!

You need to be eating a fuck ton of carbs if you're bulking. Hi carb, hi protein diet. Watch that weight and strength start to skyrocket.

My cuts are low carb. Lowest I got last summer was around 75-85 g a day. When I was trying to lose that last little bit of fat. It suuuuuucks.

    Fatass

Nice! Thanks man. I would like to get down to 225 while still making progress in my lifts. Bench has always been tough for me. Every time I seem to make significant progress I screw my shoulder up and have to take it easy for 2-3 months, losing 15 pounds off my PR. In fact, I tweaked my shoulder last night doing overhead press, benching Saturday will be interesting.

Aesthetic oriented lifting is challenging in it's own right and requires an extreme amount of discipline. I respect that lifters dedicate themselves to achieving different goals. Myself, I prefer the "jacked" look to the "ripped" look. SO, in a way, I am going for aesthetics as well, but I am looking for Lilliebridge-like traps instead of a 6 pack.

I tried to bulk up and watch to see if i made any strength or size gains. I gained 20# with very little increased strength gain with it. My best body weight vs primary lift weigh is 230. There was zero gain in power or muscle rep endurance from 230-240.

Next goals are a 350 bench, 375 squat, 450 DL

Thats a good goal on bench vs the other numbers. i find that 350-440 is ridiculously hard to make improvements on bench. For me, i loose currently 2 reps post 320 all the way up to my 1rm. ( 320 as some of our heavy weight bars are 50#)

Before my cut (like 3 weeks ago lol), I was 209, the heaviest I've ever been. I was getting stronger by the week, but my wife called me out (as well as the assholes in this thread) for getting fat (~17-20% bf), so I started to cut. Psychologically, I feel better stronger, but I know I look better at a lower bodyfat % (~10-11% is the lowest I've gotten, but I'd love to get to single digits), which is also what the wife wants. To compromise, she lets me get bigger and stronger in the winter months, but I always have to shed for the summer. I always lose a little strength, but I'm also always happy when I reach my end goal of getting more "ripped." At the end of it all, I end up putting on 5-10 lbs of muscle per year and I can live with that. The struggle between strength and sexiness is very real, my friend.

Also, INB4 "clean bulk and stay lean year-round" b/c we all know I don't have the will-power for that shit. Bulking season is my excuse to be a fatass.

Yeah, I know my goals are really high, but that's more like a long-term end goal. A realistic end goal for me for 2016 would be like a 335 bench, 385 squat, and a 435 deadlift.

i find DL and Squat numbers can go up much faster than bench. Whats your bench at right now ? I found chasing 1-2 rm not as productive as 5-7 rm sets for 10 sets in strength and size. I do a 1-2 rm now and then though but then its followed by 5-7s

    at what body weight??

I am 170# right now. My last number check was at 160# and I hit 290# bench, 350# squat, and 365# DL (1005 total. Pretty sure I blew my load on this thread when it happened since I finally cracked the 1000# club...).

I know I can get stronger without getting much heavier but those numbers you want (at least bench) seem like you'd have to be pretty heavy (I'm only saying this because you are one of the few people here who are lighter than me, but I still try to keep up with your gainz because you are strong af...especially in the beard area)

Bench right now is about 315. Sometimes I can do 5 lbs more, sometimes 305 breaks my sternum. When I'm on a good bulk and putting on size, 315 is cake. I hardly ever do 1rm, but I like to at least once every month or 2 to make sure I'm progressing. 99% of the time, I stay in the 8-15 rep range. For instance, if I'm planning on doing a 1rm on bench and can't get more than 12-13 @ 225, I won't even try it. I usually base everything off my 225 max.

Both of you light bastards are strong for your weight.

Or maybe I'm just really weak for my weight.................

better get dem muscles loose with a Zumba class, first

My bench goes up quicker than my squats. Squats are my weak point. I'm currently at 315, 335, 405

I'm not usually one to toot my own horn...but...my beard game is strong

Whatever weight I can get it at. I was up to 170 when I started my cut. My goal was 175, but I fell a little short. I've got a couple weeks left of the program I'm doing right now, then it's back to 4x4s/pyramids to try to keep whatever size and strength I have left as I keep losing weight/fat. I'm figuring I'll probably end up around 145-150 again before its all said and done and I get to the BF% I want. If I can get to 9-10%, then I'll start tweaking to try to add more mass without adding much more fat. I was at about 158ish when I weighed in on Monday. I'm not gonna be hitting those weight goals while I'm cutting, I know. But, by the time I start my next cut, I should be there.

A guy saw me wearing my HeMan tank the other day and said "dude, I saw a Mighty Mouse tank the other day that just had him on it and it said "pound for pound" and I almost bought it just to bring to you."

I took that as a huge compliment.
