Bluetooth always starts - fix?

Entune premium system & iPhone 6, if that matters.

Every time I start the truck it will find something (i.e. podcasts, music collection) to start playing on my phone. Doesn't seem to matter whether the app it starts playing was in the foreground, the background or not open at all.

Worse, if a phone call comes in the system starts play again as soon as the call ends. Because my GPS app voice instructions are considered a 'call', something starts playing after every instruction.

Yes, switching to the radio, etc. prevents the problem, but I need Bluetooth to enable GPS directions.

Any ideas on ways to disable or work around this problem?

the headunit remembers the last function it was on when you turn off the vehicle. if you have it set to Bluetooth, it will auto start the music player on your phone since the headunit is sending a command to start media playback via BT. this happens on my Note 4 since I have it set to Pandora and entune sends a command back via BT to start the Pandora app within entune, but the phone gets confused and starts the media player until the entune Pandora app takes over.

the only way around this is to not use the BT function for your 3rd party app. the only way I could get this to stop is to remove the 3rd party media player to not start playing music (I have playerpro and poweramp but use playerpro since the random function works better than poweramp).

Groan . I suppose I could work around it running an audio cord from my phone to the dash plug (to no longer need BT connectivity), but that is far less convenient.

Yeah, you're right, but it's the first new vehicle I've ever allowed myself and I deserve it!!

I just put mine back to fm always when I don't want the previous setting to start up again. Like the other user said, this is the intended behavior of the unit.

 

I actually love this feature. I don't have to start it every time I get in the truck. It just works.

Don't get me wrong, when I first get in the truck and things just start playing I'm great!

What's annoying is the systems' inability to remember how things were set before a 'call' (i.e. my GPS announcing directions) comes in. Once I start the truck - which auto-starts play - and manually stop it, it ought to remember play is stopped.

This happens when I'm hauling a coworker(s) with me, typically to/from lunch, and they'd rather talk than listen to whatever music/podcast I like.

Toyota is not helping future sales with a system guest riders experience like this.

 

Interesting. When my GPS gives me instructions, it does not pause whatever is playing via Bluetooth. It just talks over it.
