Take it in immediately!! It isn't safe to drive with a broken leaf. No need to wait for them to roll out the remedy in your area. They will replace them with the recall remedy parts free of charge due to the broken leaf.

So just got off the phone with Toyota and they told me to wait and cross my fingers that I will eventually get into their leaf spring recall because my VIN doesn't currently aply.

And she told me to fix it myself and then hold on to all the paperwork to get reimbursed by Toyota... Because they will kidnap my truck if they see it's broken and make me pay for the parts and labor.

So today I will be online shopping and hoping someday to get paid back.

Ps... Ohio's parts are currently being tricked down to dealerships this month.

You should have told them, Fine when the spring punctures the gas tank and blows up, your family will be suing Toyota and their dealership. And bring up the recall for this issue, as they know there is a problem already.

I called my local dealership yesterday (Ohio) and they said it would be a couple weeks before they had the new springs in. They're supposed to let me know...

My truck went in for the frame inspection two weeks ago and the day before I got the letter about the leaf spring recall. Frame passed the inspection and when I picked the truck up I told them to go ahead and get my name on the list for the leaf springs. Dealer called last week saying the springs were in and I had them replaced this past Wednesday. I'm located in central PA.

Noticed that my right rear leaf spring is broken when I was replacing front breaks. Fixed and reinforced both sides and sent a bill to Toyota Canada through my local dealership ( Note: I did not show them any pictures, just brought the bill from my friend/mechanic). Got the money back after 4 weeks. What strange is that dealership does not have this recall in the system and told me that there is no such issue until I proved them otherwise. So I guess we can go ahead and fix the problem if it exists and then get a refund.

Not in the system? It affects over 700,000 trucks.

Called today...Lithia told me to bring it in for an inspection and they will order parts. Kendall told me no inspection needed, but they don't have the OK for the remedy yet, and I should be getting a letter soon. If I cant get it done in Bend, I'm over the hill to Springfield.

I have read most of the threads (please don't tell to go back & read them all) help me understand this recall, I received notice a few months ago telling me there was a problem & when a solution was decided on I would be getting notice to bring it in to the dealer for the fix. Question, is the first step an inspection? or is it to replace the springs? I am not sure just what the inspection would do, they might be fine today & in need of repair tomorrow. or is the inspection to see how many "clips" are on the leaf springs? I have an "09" 4x4 access cab, which currently has 4 leaf springs with 3 clips. Thanks!!

I called for an appointment to get the leaf springs replaced and they said nothing about an inspection. When I took it in they said we will inspect the truck and if it fails the inspection we will order springs and schedule another appointment to put them on. They said this is the procedure they must follow but I have read where others had just one appointment. My truck (09 access 4X4) had the 3 leaf pack and it failed inspection and they ordered the replacement and told me they would get them in 7 to 10 days. After 11 days I called and still no springs. On day 18 I called again and after being on hold for 10 minutes they said my springs were in. I honestly believe if I had not kept calling I would still be waiting. I got them on yesterday and it took 2 hours. I still have not received my final remedy letter. So some have had one appointment for the whole thing and others have had two appointments. Some have received final remedy letters and others have not. Some have received new springs and others have not. Everyone has received several notices dating back to sept. 2014 and have been dicked around by this recall for 20 months. My springs were the originals and now I got new ones but Toyota gets a big fail for how they handled this recall.

I just got my leaf springs replaced. I didn't look at how they where installed before, but the new ones look odd to me. Not the way I would have expected. Does this look correct?

Is your back end squatting? Out here looking at mine right now (original 3 leaf pack) and I seem to have wayyyy more space between the bump stop and frame. I also have helper springs, but that only gives me an inch or so.. I dont know, might be illusions from shading in the photos or something?

Thanks for that. The lack of an arch is what threw me.

Here is a pic of the bump stop
