Sorry to butt in I'm desperate here. Has anyone with a db lift had trouble passing a state inspection for cutting and replacing front cross member under front differential? I live in New Hampshire so much for live free or die... I have a lot of payments left for a truck that's not street legal.

What reason are they giving for not passing it? What brand lift do you have?

Modification to the frame. Rough Country..... Left that part out for obvious reasons.

HArd to believe that a well thought out and strengthened frame modification would cause you to fail. Any chance you could take it to another inspection station?

I believe the cross member has to be cut for any db lift. Rough country supplies a new one that bolts on underneath the original. Is that different from other kits?

Damn computers. All DB lifts for 4x4s require the frame to be cut, and all have a new bolt in crossmember. Do you have the exact wording of the the section of state code that you are in violation of?

There's not a specific code on the report all it says is chassis damage-missing/improper part and notes it has to be approved by state dot. Unfortunately the lady at the state office just tells me if it failed it failed and if a licensed inspection station disagrees they can over rule the initial inspection but she won't give me that in writing and nobody I know has the same interpretation of the laws.

I was just looking for info on this. I would say to have another inspection somewhere else, and try to get it over ruled. Perhaps email Rough Country and see if they can help you out. It is a frame modification, so not chassis damage or a missing part. Hell, with the right inspector, all you would need to do is show him a copy of the installation instructions for the lift.

Yeah I'll probably have to get my buddy on the phone with the state too I suppose. That's what rough country said too the only thing they have in writing is the instructions.

No problem. I was just looking into your states frame modification laws. At least you only have bumper height restrictions.
