well this sucks. my wife and i went to a friends shop and there was a truck (nissan frontier?) with a 3inch lift. She tried stepping in and was like..OOOHH NOO, this is not going to work for me and if you think half an inch (while doing the finger measurements with her index and thumb) is going to make a difference I'm not going to be happy. :annoyed:i dont want to be an @ss and pretend it's not 2.5 . maybe ill just say that it needs to time to settle and hopefully she gets over it.

I'm assuming you were 3/4 inches higher in the rear? Since you have a camper shell and 2 inch in the rear, are you nose high when you load up your bed?

    Are you guys running 265/70/17s?

I'm running 265/70r17s with my 2.5" of lift. My wife is 5'3" or so and doesn't have any problems getting in, although she can tell a difference over stock.

my wife is a tad shorter and 6 months pregnant. Still leaning on getting it since i help her get in and out of the truck all the time anyways. I just want to check with ZRXDean if he's nose high when he loads up the rear with camper and all.

Yep. 3/4 higher in the rear. Haven't loaded the bed with anything substantial yet but with the tailgating supplies (grille, coolers with ice, chairs and a table) I was around 300 lbs. of crap and didn't notice any sag whatsoever. I wasn't really looking but at the same time never noticed.

I'm running 265/70/17 Cioper AT/3's. Love 'em so far

Oh - and my wife is just under 5'2". Doesn't mind the climb at all. @trippin - maybe just tell her she won't be pregnant ALL the time - unless that's your plan. More power to ya if that's the case!

I had another customer today in your same situation. I just mentioned that he could tell his wife that the higher the truck sits the safer it is should you ever get into an accident. You are really only thinking of the children. Also you have a far better vantage point of the road the higher you are!

    Safety first! ;)

Nice that's just I wanted to hear. I'll upgrade down the road to a full leaf pack if it ever gets to a point. As for the wife, we're done after number 2!!!! Having another baby seat as an interior mod is not my ideal mod..lol

    LMAO!!!

Wow I didn't think about that and it does make sense.

Thanks everyone. I'll still be sticking with 2.5 then. :)

My wife is 5'-1". She didn't exactly give her ringing endorsement for lifting our truck, but she lives with it just fine. DO NOT do what I did....and explain that it's "good exercise" getting in and out with a lifted truck.....The implication being that she NEEDS exercise..... Wrong answer! I'm 6'-4" and the lift actually makes it EASIER for me to get in and out.

How was the ride at .85, 1.75, and with the OME? Having a hard time deciding which direction to go!

Well if you're going with OME coils, you'll want to leave the Bilsteins at 0. The OME coils will provide the lift. The only reason to put the Bilsteins at .85,1.75, or 2.5 is if you have stock coils because then the strut is providing the lift.

I understand the mechanics of the lifts but i was looking for an opinion on the ride difference. Thanks.

Well then you understand that using OME coils with the 5100s at anything other than 0 is a bad idea and you'll get a shit ride.

Now I see the confusion. My fault, should have clarified, @DCSBFTMFW, whats the ride difference with stock coils at .85 vs. stock coils at 1.75, and the OME at 0. Hope this helps.

No worries! You will DEFINITELY get a better ride with the 885s. He said that his truck rode like crap with the stock coils.

Ok- so for my 2015 TRD Sport, I mainly do highway driving. Living in the great state of PA, it's pothole city and some of our back roads are quite rough. I plan on summer beach driving, hitting Rausch Creek and plenty of snow driving.

Planning on 265/70/17's, either Hankook ATs or General Grabbers

Want to lift too, as noted above- I want to go 3 inches but for $$$ sake am ok with 2.5

If I switch out my current Billies that came with the truck for 5100's and go with the OME springs like the 885s then I should be good? I want to keep rake since I sometimes haul landscaping or furniture, plus I like the aggressive stance- but I do want sufficient clearance for some off roading, the beach and definitely snow. That would mean an AAL?

I wanted to go with a headlight retrofit, but this seems much much more functional. So now thinking of throwing the $$ this way.

Am I on the right track??

Dr. Scarecrow. from doing research and looking at all kinds of member's rides here, if you decide to go with 5100 + 885's you would want to get AAL to keep the rake. Although with that being said, your rake will probably not that high compared to what we have with our stock suspension but you should be able to haul more stuff with the AAL.

There are 2 types of AAL one leaf vs. 3 leaf progressive. This one I'm a little torn on which one I should get. I'm leaning towards 1 vs 3 leaf progressive. I've seen posts where they recommend 3 leaf progressive vs 1 leaf and vice versa due to ride difference. Supposedly 3 leaf is geared for off-roading. Again, this is just by going through an overwhelming amount of posts here in TW..lol At some point, im sure replacing the rear leaf pack will be needed.

Then there's the debate to use a UCA or not on 2.5 lift. I tried to look research on 2.5 on highway driving because i use my truck for road trips as well. I'd like to make sure that my truck would not be wandering to left or right on the freeway. But if you were going to spend some money on retrofits, with HS 5100 kit + UCA will get you close to 1200. That's about the minimum price for a retrofit if i remember correctly. With out the UCA it's about 740.

If you go for 2 inch ( 5100s + 884's) and AAL, then you would not need a UCA. Also with that set up then you would have a rake comparing to our stock ride. I'm aiming for uca's so I need to save up a little more before pulling the trigger. PM Marie from HeadStrong Off-road and she can help with your needs. I'm sure you can PM other vendors as well.

Ride was fine at .85 and 1.75, but much better ride with OME.

I only recommend stock coils if you really don't have the money for a proper lift coil, and only run them until you can afford the upgrade. Ride quality is better, and the road manners of preloaded stock coils leaves a lot to be desired in comparison, particularly at 1.75 and I assume more so at 2.5, but I never ran that high.
