When I got my truck new they told me there is a delay when shifting the truck! Was told Toyota made the transmission like this to save on trans & drivetrain. Was told this was completely normal. I have Not had any problems whatsoever with my transmission.

Seems that most of the issues on the new truck are "normal".

I didn't have an issue either. I just wanted it checked so I told my SA I will PAY for the check and leave the truck overnight, If they needed to fill I don't pay. If it was filled I pay them. They found 1/2 Quart low so I did not have to pay.

It was worth whatever they charge just to have peace of mind.

Just an FYI for everyone who disconnects the battery as a method to reset the shift point learning for the transmission. According to the Toyota service manual, the reset can only be done with Techstream. I doubt if removing the battery cable will do this.

Just left the dealership... After telling the SA I would like to have my AT fluid checked and setting up an appointment for this Saturday, it all went down hill. The SA at the next desk jumped in and told me that it was normal for the hesitation between drive and reverse. The transmission has to heat up and when I told him it also happens when it's at temp. He starts telling me that it's an electronic transmission and that's the way it is. After a lot of back and forth, the last thing he says is that I'm the second guy this week to come in with the same request. Coincidence??? I'll post my printout on Saturday

Delray beach. Oh forgot to say I was told that the check engine light would come on if the AT fluid was low.

Unfortunately they are giving you a load of horse shit. Print all the service paperwork we have posted here and let them know all of these were found to be low with no check engine light. The nerve of some of these uninformed S/As.

UPDATE: They had my '16 SR5 DBL 4x4 with Tow , overnight. There were 3 technicians interested in my case and , after many hours, all 3 checked and rechecked the trans fluid level, and it was deemed "right on the mark". Took it for a test drive, felt better, but prob because the trans was not fully heated up.
ANYWAY, they said that there was nothing else they could do, until a TSB for a software update was created, for the shift points. (I feel the vibration coming to a stop, revs 2k down to 1k)
I still feel the vibration... not sure if I need to just live with it until there is a corporate fix, or go ape-shit....

That's a bummer to hear. Do you have another dealership close by you can go to for a 2nd opinion? Do you know which method they used to check you fluid level? In either case, I'd make sure to open a case with Toyota directly.

Once my Toyota Service History info is updated online, i will contact corporate.... Hitting up another dealership is a good idea too.

Guys I think at this point we all just need to relax and wait for a reflash. The fluid issue does not appear to have any bearing on the shifting and cold weather complaints we have. They will surely come out with a TSB when they figure out how to make it better. Meanwhile we are forced to use ECT or just live with the issues I feel. Im over it at this point.

Try coming to a COMPLETE stop before going into drive. Mine hasn't done it since I started this habit. Just a thought.

There is nothing wrong with this transmission! It almost seems like a hoax that someone started. Maybe someone from GM lol.
