am I doing something wrong? One bolt is plenty long, but the other barely makes it through the pack?

    Pass side, not long enough.

The shims came with new bolts, but they're too big for the leaf pack...

Assuming they are the same length pre install, maybe it is seated into the hole formed in the axle preventing you from seeing it

When you say to big do you mean to long? If so there meant to be cut after installing.

Took me a second to understand what you were saying but you might be right.. I'll see if I can pull the bolt up with pliers or something

Pretty sure he means to big in diameter...they are too big to fit in the holes, so he is using his old bolts

I'm no good with words but that is the only reason unless the two bolts are not the same length, then just go buy another bolt

Two points and a gold star for you! The bottom wasn't quite seated correctly. I got more threads through.. Now I just need to find where I put the nut..

I think your shims are backwards.... I'm assuming you are trying to correct drive angle...

Looks good to me, same way mine are at least. Tilts the pinion up a bit

Those shims seems excessively thick for the angle of them... it looks like 1/4" to 1/2" of material can be shaved off to get the same result for your pinion...
I'm assuming these are bolt on? When I got bolt-on shims for my packs, I ended up ordering a high strength carbide bolt from Fastenal. They have a tons of different lengths, thread pitches etc. Just make sure it has a high tensile strength and you'll be good to go. Maybe make some measurements and see what length you'll need.

I dont think those shims are excessively thick, if they are too thin i think they are susceptible to splitting/cracking under heavy load.

I also wanna know if those leaf packs are OME? Those three bottom leafs are so thick. Is the top thick one the extra AAL for the dakars? I know dakars have two thick overloads but they look funny in that pic for some reason...

Nope, smaller side towards the front.

Yeah bolt on, so far I'm really happy with them.

You can buy a magnetic angle finder from Home Depot or Harbor Freight and measure your driveline angle to take any guesswork out of it and find out what angle shim you need to correct it. That said, sometimes experimentation is required to solve vibes even among people with the same exact setup.
