If your use to a foot control you won't like it.
I fishing while running and turning and fighting the wind with my foot. Going after a hand control all the time will drive you insane. IMHO.

That's why no one borrows my boat. NO ONE.....
They owe you a new trolling motor as good or better than you had.
There is always plenty of room for a foot control.:yes:

I don't loan anything out.... You need help, I'll come use my machine..... learned the hard way after an AGE mechanic trashed a perfectly good lawn mower.

    Evening all:
There are a few people I will lend stuff to, VERY FEW!

If I wanted to position a boat while casting I would definitely want a foot controlled trolling motor. I only have a tiller which I rarely use, and when I do use it it's for trolling.
The young guy I fish with uses a hand held remote to operate the trolling motor, that seems to work pretty well for trolling, but he still has the option of the foot control.

Did you save any money going this route or do you prefer the hand control unit?

During my years of tournament bass fishing I only used foot controlled trolling motors, either 24v or 36v.

Now that my fishing is mostly for inshore saltwater species I still use a foot control (24v) motor guide) but will move to a hand control next time in the Salt Water series for improved corrosion resistance.

its all about the deck space, it was pain in the ass to use the foot control the way my boat is laid out, my previous boats the foot controls worked fine, but my present boat (since 2000) it's just too tight, I know with that top notch deal, its gunna be fine

Wow, what a welcome! I need to spend more time on this thread...

Anyone in the Albuquerque area who's put 5100s on their Tacoma, I'd love to check out the ride.

    Boatswain, hope you're healing up!

    Morning all:
Yup, feeling much better now Gary, just a few bruised muscles luckily!
After Sat., when I will walk over 6 miles and climb up and down a steep bank to fish for trout, I will probably feel almost as bad as when the tree wacked me, but that's fun! o_O
Maybe not, just got a new pair of wading boots that may make that excursion more bearable, will see!

Also! Drooling over a boat listed on CL. There is a 2011 Tracker GRIZZLEY, with a 60/40 jet and some goodies, listed on the Charleston WV CL for 8k OBO. If I could get that boat for 7k, it would be following me home!
Have been wanting a jet for awhile, and a new jet outboard would be between 6k to over 8k depending on the hp and mfg., this is the whole package that's in that price range.
Only problem, it would be an 8 hr. drive one way to even go look at it! If that boat were closer to our area it would be gone, and probably for the asking price.
Then again! I need another boat like I need a hole in the head, but definitely want a jet for the river we fish.

We have a tournament this weekend at my fav lake. Boy don't I hate them. No place to park. Every place on the lake that have good possibilities taken. If you do go on the water and are at a spot they will come right up on you and try to fish over you. One guy at work asked me to join him for a tournament and I have no interest. so I'll find another area to go to and then I'm sure I'll get stopped by the game warden.....:annoyed:

Sounds like the first day of trout here Mike! :(
If they see you catch a fish, they will move right in on you------so, you just move to the spot they were just fishing, and catch another fish! :) That's why I have gone to the river for years, no one around for the most part, and I get my limit of trout with no hassle.

Was just looking at the prizes for the shad contest, 5k for 1st place! I don't fish it anymore, first of all there was a guy that got caught cheating awhile back, and when I entered the longest shad caught the one year I came in 10th place. They go by weight, so I either caught a skinny big shad, or they are juicing them up somehow.
Mine was 25 1/4", and 22 1/2" fish were weighing more than that fish. I could see a couple other fish @ around 24"+ plus being heavier, but to come in 10th with that fish :notsure:.

    Just thinking; where's Rob>MQQSE???

Good morning all. A little snow overnight here in Kalifornia, just stuck to pine needles, deck. Thought it would only snow a little higher up. I'm at just under 4,000'. Good thing we didn't get more, it would have damaged the chicken wire fence around the garden.
Glad I got a load of Sugar Pine firewood in yesterday, miserable cutting firewood with snow on the ground, have not had to do that for years, can wait for nicer days. Located more wood yesterday after the first load, will go after that next week. Engaged the 4wdL to back up over a logging landing edge, when leaving with my load of wood, could not get it to turn off, ended up shutting the engine off and restarting the engine, that worked.
