I pre-ordered my Taco DCSB 4x4 just yesterday. I want to be armed with everything we have here on this forum. My plan is to demand they check it and I want to see the service record indicating that they did so, or I will walk away from the sale, losing my $500...

If anyone has any tips please let me know, I have read through the entire thread already and have all the documents printed and handy. Thanks for everyone's hard work, hopefully you will save future taco owners like me from these issues.

For the guys ordering new trucks . I need a fresh build date .This will be the date when the low fluid is corrected at the factory
Trucks that were built in Feb of 2016 were still sent to the dealerships with low fluid and this is listed in the poll
Post an update if your fluid level was ok with a March build .
I somehow doubt they made changes in March .
With this said , i plan to hear about many more cases of low fluid in the upcoming months
105 Tacoma,s low on fluid since December of 2015 according to the poll .
Not every Tacoma World member voted and its not expected .
Not every guest who read the low fluid alert signed up for a free account at TW . Membership has its benefits guys . I suggest signing up
The poll is just an average .
How many Tacoma,s have been sold with low transmission fluid since their 2016 debut ?
    Anyone care to guess ??????

I believe mine was scheduled for production beginning on 4/6... I feel like if I am tactful but persistent and communicate with the right people (i.e., Service and Sales Managers), they will perform the services I request... I agree with the need for getting the service write-up though...

I had a '99 TRD (manual transmission ironically) that I drove the hell out of until January this year... I just want a truck that performs as well as that one did...

I will post on how it goes... what they tell me about fluid levels, etc...

My Mexico built tacoma with a date of 03/16 was also low with about 300 miles. 16oz according to the dealer. I'll be calling corporate as well, at the very least to have it documented.

Thanks to all the posts about this issue, I brought my 2016 DBCB TRD Sport in to have the fluid checked. It was slipping when first starting out after sitting for a few days. 1200 miles. Heartland Toyota in Bremerton, WA gave me no grief at all. Said yes a few of their customers had the same issue and their fluid was low. Informed me I would have to leave the truck for a few hours as the check was temp dependent (which I already knew from TW posts.) Sure enough, 1qt low. Kudos for Heartland for having an upfront service dept that knows what customer service means. My truck is performing much better.

02/16 Mexico build date, picked it up March 14th with 33 miles on it. Have 516 miles as of today. Was .75 quarts low when I filled it today. Also learned make sure the the fluid was at temp before opening the overflow valve.

'16 TRD Offroad w/ Tow Package, DCSB. Was 0.75 quarts low.

Picked my truck up March 9th from Toyota of Kirkland in Washington, brought back for AFT check while reporting symptoms on Monday March 11th. Had to leave it overnight since I brought it in late, but I didn't have to ask twice. Jennifer in the Service Dept was great, even got a loaner for the day for free. They mentioned they would just report it as a warranty issue.

Major props for Toyota of Kirkland for an awesome trade in experience, was working with Galo and Curtis H. in their sales departments! Toyota of Bellevue was a different story....I had great prior experience with their service dept. but I had to walk out due to overly pushy salesguys.

Still no confirmation from the dealer of the shifting symptoms I'm having. It's had 7occasions of irratic shifting so far. Talked to a regional corporate tech and he at least confirmed verbally that Toyota is aware of the delayed shifting on the automatic transmissions. they are looking into it for a "possible" fix but no promises. He went on to mention that it could be a technical upgrade fix to the ecu and he had the same symptoms on his 16 Trd OR auto until around 6k miles.
Imo, I think Toyota didn't put much time and thought into the adaptive tranny. They should of made the transmission more simple or at least fix the bugs in the previous gen before moving on. With the Ect button on my transmission feels more confident and I don't experience as much lag.
The district tech said that one of Toyota's number one focuses on this latest model was fuel economy.
I'm thinking labor costs too since there new vehicles are on the lot with low inadequate fluid levels.

If consumers aren't buying as much then maybe Toyota will have to up their quality conditions.
I'm telling a lot of friends and co -workers about my truck's and other owner's vehicles conditions and to wait it out until Toyota recognizes the issues publicly.

I'm picking up my new truck this Saturday. I talked to the dealer and even linked them to this thread, and they are going to just change the transmission fluid. They will measure the amount that came out and then put the proper amount in. They will also send me the results, so i will give an update when I get them.

Dropped off my truck (DCSB TRD Sport with Tow Package) at the dealer this past Tuesday and requested to have the Transmission fluid level checked.... Took the entire day until I heard back from the dealer; mine was 1 Quart low... They topped it off under warranty... Peace of mind and smoother shifting

I think a lot of the opinions on the transmissions are subjective...

What one calls sluggish and relentless shifting, another calls it smooth and no problems because it gets them from point A to point B...

IMHO if the transmissions wants to go to 5th-6th gear as often as possible only to downshift back to 3rd-4th on the slightest incline or acceleration then that's a problem.

I got my case# from Toyota Care this week.

Yeah... a lot is "subjective"... and there might be a bit of paranoia due to the high number of people with REAL tranny issues..!!

For me.. I'm checking mine tomorrow, in the driveway. This is THE only place I am sure it will be done correctly... I'm only having very minor issues when in cruise and the tranny does not want to upshift back to 5th or 6th...

I'll bet it's low about 3/4 liter. I'll fill ya'll in tomorrow nite...

Bye the way, while under there today, I found the front diff. was low.... rear looks good, but I'll check both again...!!

U-joints took a lot of grease..

Need help locating the Tranny Fill Plug on my 2016 OR 4x4. Taking it in to the dealer to have the ATF level checked but I wanted to paint the plug first to verify the procedure was performed.
