Is anyone speculating that the current Tacoma's issues (transmission, fluid levels, noise, shaking, etc) will decrease as their production volume slows down, in preparation and start of the 2017 production? What I am getting at is, you would think that most issues would be significantly improved in the current model, by the time the next year's model is ready for production. Or does Toyota, or any vehicle manufacturer not give a shit ? Lol. I've only owned one vehicle in my life so far...

I am planning to buy in August-Sep this year when the 2017s start to roll out- want to get the best deal, and also hoping the issues in the 16's are at least slimmed down somewhat.

Or am I just in some fairy tail land, and may as well get a 17' at that point?

I also want to use the Costco membership perk, but not sure if in my case, will help (for a 16', at least)

I don't know why people think that the 17s will be free of the issues that the 16 has. If anything the later 16s may have some of the kinks worked out. It's not like, "Well the transmission fluid is low on the 16 and we will just keep it like that till the 17s roll out, then We will address the issue". Or any other issues. Hopefully my 16 TRDOR that I will pickup Monday from delivery will be worry free, less then likely. I will for sure get the dealer to check the fluids and grease the u-joints and what not BEFORE I even test drive it. For the rumor on power seats and rear window. I see that being added to the tech package that I am sure will reflect the cost.

I sure don't think 17's will be FREE of the issues, but hoping to be less, at least one to be addressed by Toyota by the time I order.

Agreed. I just hope they refine working parts to make them function as they were designed to. Humans and machines- both aren't perfect, will have flaws, and eventually, checkups and repairs will need to be done.

Just ordered my TRDOR 4x4 DCSB MT last week (4/9/2016) and had the $300.00 dollar price increase that the 2017 models will have. April will be the last month to order the 2016 trucks and May will be for 2017's. My truck is due around July or August. Dealerships are ordering their allotment of 2016's this month and that's it. You can buy it off the lot from that allotment.

Does this mean 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro will also be available for order?

That is good to hear. I am planning on ordering a 2017. I know they marked up the 2017 300.00 but from your experience did you get below MSRP on your 2017 order

I ran into a guy that works in the service shop of a Toyota dealer. I told him I was going to upgrade my 2007 either this year or next. We talked about the frame recall, he crawled under mine and said that he'd "pass" mine but would have to tap it with a ball-peen first in the shop. After that he said he'd (off the record) suggest I wait until the 2017 models come out so that they can "work out some things that are showing up." I wasn't in a position to stick him up on particulars.

I believe Toyota knows every issue that comes up on these little beasts–under warranty–and it'd be financially foolish not to address them as soon as they are recognized.

    I'm dragging my feet.

Dragging my feet as well. I was ready to pull trigger but after testing the auto and hearing about all the issues I decided to wait. My 2002 will serve me fine until I am ready.

I would hope that anything they "work out" on the 2017s, they will fix under warranty on the 2016s.

I don't know the exact cost because I'm waiting for the employee discount to kick in on the 4x4. I will be using my daughter's discount, so we'll see.

From what the dealership told me, the 2017 will be the exact same truck as the 2016. That is why I decided to get the 2016 now. I guess it's hit and miss on a lot of issues, some have it and some don't. Toyota has always had the mind set to keep things the same as long as it sells and we keep buying. $.02

I'm sure you are right. Same body, tranny, engine etc. I have to believe that Toyota is seeing fix-it patterns that they cover under the warranty. I can't believe they don't electronically monitor that stuff as it is turned into the dealers. Since that costs them money, I have to believe they are trying to address those issues.

Now, what I believe and what actually IS, may be two different things. I get that. But I trust the guy that gave me the advice. If deals on 2016s come up this fall here and there, I may take the bait.

I've been looking and test drove one about a week ago. Guy at the dealership said 2017 was going to have power driver seat and something about the rear window. Don't know if he meant it was going to be power too.
