If anyone is local to North Dallas and wants to compare let me know. I don't get out and shoot much these days, Saturdays are my only full day off, and I hate the local ranges.

    Planning my next upper build, already got a 7" 556, 16" 556, and 16" 6.8 ARP.
I have an 18" 223 Wylde (Heavy profile) barrel sitting in my closet, but it's kind of heavy.

Not really sure what I want, I just want to build something.
    My thoughts right now:
    1. 11" 300 BLK
    2. 10.5" or 11.5" 556
    3. 12.5" 6.8 ARP
    4. Use the barrel i have to build a SPR style rifle, free float tube with bipod and a 2.5-10 scope.

I'm leaning more towards the 556 options or 6.8, I don't really want to introduce another caliber in right now.

I don't want to form 4 a suppressor because of cost and it'll be at least a year before I have the equipment to form 1 a suppressor, so a 300 BLK probably won't be worth it right now, but I can find ammo locally and cheaper than 6.8.

Look into SD tactical for doing a form 1 suppressor. You don't need a lot of equipment to make a can

I have, but I want something machined that will hold up to .308 for thousands of rounds.
Now if I wanted to commit a felony and do something as stupid as building it without a form 1 then i wouldn't mind doing it, but it seems like a lot of hassle to form 1 such a simple can that (In theory) doesn't work as well and won't last as long.

If you're looking for something a bit more durable, check out f1 cans on facebook, there is a guy on there that has built a titanium 45-70 can that is holding up really well

They can also give you some real good links to some things that can be modified into very durable baffles

Planning on getting a mini mill and mini lathe in the next 18 months and I think I'm gonna base it off of this design.
    http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=136120

However my cousin and I have talked about it and we are also looking into designing a square suppressor that utilizes baffles that reflect the sound waves into each other to mitigate the sound waves and use the volume to cool the gas to hopefully make a pretty quiet suppressor.
Also looking into getting my FFL once I turn 21.

I'm a machinist with access to some good cad programs and a haas mill and lathe. I've got some interesting designs that I'm toying with currently. I'll eventually make some of them

I've got a few stashed on my computer as well. I'll eventually finish up with my designs and see what happens when I make them.

As for getting your FFL, if you want to make fun stuff you will need an 07 FFL (or better yet a 10)

I've got a buddy that I went to welding school with who will teach me the ins and outs of machining (I have no experience at all) but I need to get equipment or find someone who will let us use theirs because all the machine work that he has done for me so far has been at the high school.

I made a basic design in sketchup but I have learned a little more since then and would like to re work the design.

I really want to get an 07 at the least because I would like to be able to demo Full auto (Post '86) and it would be useful for trying different suppressor designs.

I can't stand sketch up (nothing wrong with the program, I just don't like it)

I use mostly inventor or fusion (both Autodesk)

And you may as well say "F it" and get a 10....then you can do DDs as well as full auto and cans and what not. (Fun fact, pipe bombs are considered DDs)

If you like machine work I've just decided to do some milling on a glock 21 or 17 (whichever I find cheap first). This is the first cad design I've come up with but most likely not the one I'll pick, I have some fine tuning to do with it

6.8 if hunting is the biggest reason, I love ARP stuff. .300blk is fun suppressed.

Go T-2 for the slightly extra money with out a mount, get a mount from Larue, American defense mfg, or Alamo4Star.

I say this because the refined the dot. The dot on the T-1 is slightly out of round and it's worse with a magnifier. But the battery life is amazing. Mine is still on brightness setting 8 of 12 since its first range trip 3 years ago haha. I only turn it up when I need it.
