Tacoma World Map! Add Yourself!

Edit: I'm no longer updating this thread as it ended up being too much for folks to follow so use it as you please (you already have been) and enjoy for what it's worth.


Ever wondered just how far Tacoma World reaches or just which members are in your area? Well here is the map to find out. You can even add yourself.

I know we have specific regional threads you can look at, but to really know locations you have to look at each individual Tacoma World member's information and hope they put their city in there. I've created this simply because I want to know how BIG Tacoma World really is, and this is a simple and fun way to cover up a map of the world with little "markers" and see where the masses of this forum are located!

Ok, on to the instructions of how to participate in this and add yourself:

Please do not edit and change stuff just to do so. I want to keep this as organized as possible, that being said, if you do see an improvement that can be made please make it or post in this thread about it. Thank you.

Click the link and the map will pop up. The default view is of the CONUS. Like this:

As you can see my location has been added first (Arab, AL).

Next you will type in the "search bar" at the top, the city you live in. Once you hit enter it will take you to that city and automatically set a "marker." All you have to do is click "+Add to map" and it will place the marker. You may need to be signed into your Google Account to see all of this.

After you have placed the marker, use the "pencil" to edit the details of that location. Don't change the city name, but in the detail box add your Tacoma World Username! You can see how I've done it for my location. Also, if someone has already marked your city just add your Username to the same detail box. Please do not put your actual address, just let Google Maps set the marker in the city. I am not responsible for anybody finding out your actual address if you are a dummy and put that. You can also change the color and style of your marker if you want to (it doesn't have to be a red pin, there are many options!).

This is a work in progress!! I had some of my friends in Alabama help me out to test it, so we know it works, but we may encounter issues. If you do encounter an issue please let me know and maybe we can figure out how to fix it or even just to improve this.

Possible Issues:
-Cannot see "+Add to map" on tablet, phone, or using Firefox or Microsoft Edge. *POSSIBLE FIX* - Sign into your Google account


I will edit (delete) posts that are "incorrect" or inappropriate using my own judgement. Please post your location the same way I did with the very first you will see. I know none of you live in the ocean, so stop that .


Some help with editing and how to properly label yourself and your city:

Once you have your city added, if you want to edit the data click the 3 dots beside the "Member Locations" on the left side as shown in this picture by the ORANGE CIRCLE.


Then select "Open Data Table". It will bring up a table that looks like this:

In the table you can edit the "name" and "description". PLEASE make the "name" say the City or City, State you are from, and make the "description" say your Tacoma World Username. Use mine for an example if you need to. Thank you.
