My first truck at 54 years old. I absolutely love it. Had a couple reboots one day with the Entune that lost a couple settings I had to reset. Not a single problem since in first 700 miles with anything. I don't need the backseat, the 6' bed is great and it isn't nearly as bad to park as I thought it would be. Am I just lucky or is this the norm? Seems like a lot of complaints.

Aside from the trouble with the tranny fluid being low from the factory, and the behavior of the automatic tranny (which isn't really even a "problem" per se, it was designed to perform the way it does for a reason), most of the complaints about the 3rd gens are pretty subjective I think. It's easy to nitpick problems on a new truck when you're overanalyzing everything, plus this is the internet so...yeah, lol.

Great looking truck! Love the color!

A lot of those with problems are very vocal about it, and some people are more sensitive to certain issues than others. Some of the vibration issues seem to be common, but are more pronounced/severe with some trucks. Also, lots of people complain about the amount of grease in the u joints but don't seem to understand they are lubed by the bearing manufacture and don't require the entire thing to be filled with grease. I think a lot of these issues are not uncommon with any vehicle, and there won't be significant effects on long term reliability. Im very happy with my truck, there are a few minor things, but nothing that makes me regret the purchase. I'm sure whatever issues do come up will get resolved under warranty eventually.

    Good post.

I've owned a lot of new cars in my lifetime and with every car specific forums, you'll find the same type of complaints. Not that there are not any genuine complaints, but forums themselves leads to breading grounds for some serious OCD folks.

about the only thing I noticed with Tacoma owners are how picky they are. They know the Tacoma has a great heritage, and proven reliability, so it seems some folks have unrealistic expectations from a mass produced truck.

2 Tacoma generations from now (assuming we aren't in automated flying cars by then), 5th gen owners will be all nostalgic and sentimental about the past 3rd gens...just watch

I thought this blog was for people that loved Toyota Tacomas! I love mine! But the more I hang out here it seems like they hate them. If the transmission is low on fluid it's a piece of junk - I don't understand.
