Just doesn't seem fare. Baby your truck and then some ahole runs right into the side. 2015 with 7k miles. Passenger side front door/rear door/bed damage (that i can tell thus far). Now trying to decide best place to take it. I do know a local collision shop from previous car and does good work. Or maybe Toyota dealer? State farm (insurance company of guy that hit me) wants me to go to one of there shops (obviously).. more that pissed off.... :(

take it where you know they do the best work, in my experiences thats usually not the dealership. if the paint shop looks like it belongs on american pickers, move on.

Do you know that the shop you think is good is not on the State Farm list?

Most quality insurers guarantee your satisfaction and the repairs for life if you use one of their approved shops.

    Glad no one was hurt.

    Stuff happens.

Got my 2015 sport hit last Monday at Walmart. Here in Florida they can't tell you where to get the truck fixed but they make you go to their shop for the estimate. (Funny though they sent to a chevy dealer) Im taking mine back to the dealer. No sense taking it anywhere else.

Two things i have learned, make sure you get the work done at a place that offers lifetime warranty and ask for value loss reimbursement from state farm.

Take it to wherever you want to do the work. State Farm should send an adjuster to wherever the truck is - your house, work, or the body shop. They may ask you to bring it to them for an estimate, and that may be faster for you (and them), but you can ask them to come to you, and they will, but it may not be that same day. That local shop sounds good, and I bet they will be fine to work with State Farm. I've actually had reasonably good dealings with them myself. While all insurance companies can be a pain to deal with, especially in claim situations, be firm and persistent sprinkled with a little patience (easy to say and hard to do) and they'll get you squared away. Sorry about your truck.

    So what the heck happened?

I would take to to wherever my insurance told me to for an estimate, then I would do research on local body shops in the area my insurance will back and other shops that would warranty the work. Then I'd make a decision from there.
I may also call local salvage yards and see if I couldn't find a new door. The issue with popping out dents is that they can cause almost invisible paint damage (especially to clear coat) and later on you may have problems with oxidizing paint. If you can find a perfect door at a salvage yard, it might be a better option than trying to fix the current door and have it repainted. It also will more than likely be substantially cheaper. No paint job matches a factory paint job either, another reason I'd be looking for a new door.

    Just my personal preference but:
NEVER LET ANYONE TOUCH YOUR TRUCK WITH BONDO!!! Make them re-order a brand new part and paint it. NEVER EVER try to fix plastic flairs/bumpers/trim etc. with bondo and paint over it. Eventually the bondo will crack and peel under the paint. Just order whole brand new pieces.

One of my bosses got in a wreck with his Honda. Plastic front bumper was all smashed up. The thing probably costs like $75 to get a new one primed to paint and maybe $50 in paint and labor to fix it. But no, the guy who fixed it had to bondo the whole thing back together before painting it. Probably spent more money doing it and the bumper will look like crap in a couple of years. It's already starting to crack apart again.

    just my $.10 :)

OP, I'm sorry about the wreck. It sucks.

guy pulled out of parking lot as i was driving by and tboned me..

Just dropped off at repair. got a dodge ram rental. Guy i know owns the shop and has done custom work for me before on previous cars. He says doors, panels etc to replaced not repaired. Rear wheel got hit also and alignment is off. He is going to have to take it apart to check all. Probably a month long process. Also now it will have diminished value so i am expecting to get check for insurance as well. What a nightmare. To top it off just finished lifting it and was really enjoying the ride.. :(

My brother-in-law has a 2004 1500. It's rusted to all hell but drives wonderfully. I hate that I really like it.
I also hate that the Rebel looks so bad ass.

    back to bone stock.
State Farm is a huge company, that has learned to play with body shops. and i mean it in a good way.

i have AAA, girl that hit me had State Farm. AAA fixed it for me, and then went after SF just to get me out fast. i pulled up to their recommended body shop. blew me away. they had four bays. marked with AAA, State Farm, Geico, and Allstate. you pulled in to the bay with the insurance covering you. as i was filling out paperwork, the rental company dropped off the car. i hop into a tiny sedan, drive off.

getting the car back was the reverse. i just left the rental with them and hopped into my shiny tacoma. it was so painless.

there was an espresso bar at the body shop. felt more like a medical office vibe.
