I just received mine in the mail and had a quick question before I wire it up. I was going to use the switch override for the DVD function but I noticed that on here it says to wire the switch to ground but the instructions show to hook it to the parking brake light which would send 12v to it when the parking brake is on. Do I wire the switch to ground or to a 12v source? Thanks

You just ground the wire directly. Don't run anything through the parking brake.

    Just installed mine on Sat.

Green parking brake cable from Stereo to + on switch, and wire from - on switch to ground...

Works like a charm... Had the girls watching NEMO yesterday while driving... :spy:

Can't help you there... My iPod cable is currently plugged into the Sirius jack on the back of the unit

I can report back after I have time to take the headunit back out and plug the cable into the correct jack.

    doh...

Bilstein 5100 front shocks, Clarion VX409 DVD/ipod head unit, aFe air filter, Grillcraft MX grille, color matched grille surround.

That is incorrect. You can select by Playlist, Artist, Album and Song just like the iPod.
Sure, if you selected "Artist" and wanted to find a particular album, then you could be clicking for a while. A sane person would simply select "Album" and find the album that way! lol
That being said, it would be nice if you could find an album or song by typing the first letter or name into a keyboard or something.

1)Answer- You connect the Parking Brake wire to one pole on the switch/button and connect a wire coming from the Ground onto the other pole.

2)Connecting the parking brake light to the Parking Brake wire does not send 12v to the unit, it grounds it.

    3) The reason why you can't simply splice the Parking Brake wire into the Ground wire is because the unit can't be permanently grounded. The unit checks whether it is grounded on startup and if it is, it won't play video until it loses ground and then is re-grounded(i.e.-parking brake released, then engaged again).
Same thing applies if you have installed a bypass switch/button. If the switch/button was "On"(grounded) when you turned the car on, you will have to switch it to "Off"(not-grounded) then back to "On" in order to watch video.

The "Parking Break" wire that I am refering to is the one labled as such on the VX409.

Has anyone had any issues getting there Clarion to sit back far enough in the dash? I just tried installing mine tonight using the factory brackets off the OEM radio ( thats what the directions said to use) and a dash kit from Crutchfields and it sits way to far forward in the dash and looks like crap.
