It does suck. We actually lost on the last gb with a combined shipping. It was more than paying for them individually. This is the worst part of our job. If you are next to a giant hub it is fine, you will save a little. If not. It costs.

Making a suggestion: would it be possible for CVT to give us an idea of what tents are I stock and ready for shipment. This being that some members in the GB may be flexible in what tent they want. I myself am most interested in a Shasta summit or regular Shasta (w/wo Sky window) in grey but I'd be open to a tan (or other) one if they are available. just a thought...

I know it's not you guys. I was in the delivery business for many years. It's crazy what the freight companies charge.

    Random idea.

There may be some people on the forum that live nearby or pass through with a trailer. They may be willing to pick up a bunch of tents and drive to a location.

That may be a pain in the arse but it may work for some. Sucks that convenience is expensive. :(

*finishes zipping up flame suit* Just keep in perspective that everyone is getting 20+% off an in-demand product for no reason other than they signed up (for free) on a forum. Some folks (myself included, especially as of late) haven't even really contributed to the forum and you still get to reap the benefits of a group buy. If Bobby's statement is true, and I have no reason to think it's not, there's the potential for him to make very little to no money on these things - probably why his main not-to-be-named competitor doesn't do them anymore.

It might be too late for this group buy as it sounds like some tents have been sold but for future group buys and sales in general - if you have a deadline, decide what the monetary value of that deadline is. If it's greater than the group buy savings and you're not willing to risk having to go without that product due to availability/shipping issues, buy the thing outright. If it's not, use what you have and know you'll have an awesome present when you get back.

This is a great suggestion. I wish I lived closer or I would definitely volunteer to go pick up some tents. Groups could even split the cost of a Uhaul trailer and go pick up a few tents.

Yeah that'd be quite a bit. It's 2400 round trip for me.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what you guys are doing for us. I just received some bad info about the group shipping and was anticipating a better rate. So when the quote came through it was a little bit of a shock. Not a huge deal...the discount offsets the shipping cost so it works out great regardless.

At least you guys don't live in Hawaii. It's expensive to ship, but I want CVT because they're awesome. Heavy/bulky things cost money to ship....fact of life.
