The shell? Got an ARE CX series. I've since seen that people aren't that crazy about the 3rd gen mold, but I was able to get it at cost thanks to the dealership. I just need it for work, and in a year or two, I'll probably trade up to something better.

Has anybody seen this little snowflake next to the temp indicator? There must be a barometer on the truck somewhere.

Possibly, but I'd have to find the shop, create an accurate template (in 3 dimensions), pay for the fabrication, go pick it up, find someone to powder coat it, take it for powder coating...

In the end, once I include gas, cost of materials, labor, not to mention my time, I think I probably came out ahead paying $100 for the BPF one to be delivered to my door.

That's with 15 minute warm ups twice a day on cold days and just town driving, and I'm at 7200 feet, so I'm not surprised. Our FJ Cruiser gets about 10 in the winter. I'll take the poor mileage for an engine that will last 400k like my first Toyota.

Excellent job of making that $100 sound like a bargain.

I didn't build it hoping for your approval, I built it because it meets mine!
Alright, so who wants to buy my wheels and make them fit your truck? I'm not willing to try to make them work. It's simple but I'm lazy and after a gnarly motorcycle wreck this last October I'm not really able to work on my truck like I used to.
PM me for pricing and details. If you're in SoCal I can make you a mean deal.

    PS-tires not included ;)

:( I know. Everyone loves them.
To make them fit I would have to run a ¼" spacer and long et style lug nuts or longer studs. Or possibly try to shave the caliper down just enough to clear but it probably won't be enough. Or run the 1.25" Spidertrax spacers on there currently and chop a ton of plastic and metal off and have my cab mount chopped more, even though it's basically cut as far as possible already.
If I was able to easily work on it myself like I used to I would figure something out. But since my accident I can't do shit and here we are :annoyed:

What size tires did you go with? o_O my 33s fit fine witht he 1.25" spacer. Or is it because of the backspacing?

    285/75r16; basically 33"
Backspacing on the wheels are 4.5" plus the 1.25" spacer equals 3.25" backspacing. Just a bit too much.

Have you talked to anyone at Method about this? They shouldn't have suppliers or dealers that are selling that wheel to fit your application if they don't fit. I would totally be going down that road.

Is that $100 Canadian? Today that's $77.83Sorry, I'm still hung up on this! I can build these and make money at $45 painted. Maybe I will!

    Not knocking Method here.
I called them when I was looking at the wheel initially and they said it would fit the same as all their other 16x8, 4.5bs, 0 offset wheels. After finding out they wouldn't fit I called them and they were surprised. They told me to shave the caliper (I'm not down), or to run a shitty pep boys ¼" spacer and longer studs or et lug nuts (still not down). I told them I wasn't really willing to do either since they were supposed to fit out of the box. They then told me to contact the retailer I got them from to return them. After I had already told them I mounted and balanced tires on them. No one will take a wheel back after that. Not to mention I've had these wheels since January. They told me to return the wheels and tires and get 17s and start all over again. I told them, again, no one will take a mounted wheel OR tire back. And the tires came directly from Falken so I can't just ask for them to swap them out for me.
    And that's it.
I went down to FN Wheels @JdMeF9SiR2 and talked to Dustin about my options. After a solid hour and a half of discussion I have basically decided to go with one of his wheels. I can't say exactly what yet because I like a lot of what he sells but his customer service is what truly sold me.

    Stay tuned

It's more than just a little trimming. If it was just some plastic I would be ok with doing it myself but lots of metal would need to be motivated with a BFH and I'm not down. And I know as soon as I wheel this thing or catch any air the tires will go past stuffing and will get cut up by the pinch weld and/or push the fenders up and separate the flares from the body.

But I do appreciate the offer to help me out

Edit: I should mention I used to run 35s and aggressive fitment on my FJ so I kinda know what you have to do to make things work.

It comes on at 39 degrees to alert the driver of potential frozen conditions on the road. I saw it the morning after I got my truck. Had to look it up in the manual.
