Hi-Lift Alternative

    so I've been shopping hi-lifts, and the more I read about them, the more I think I should also look into alternatives to hi-lifts for changing a flat offroad, on a lifted truck on possibly non-flat areas :rolleyes:

    yes, I'm not looking at the hi-lift as being a "recovery" tool at this point. while it probably is an important piece of equipment to have, I'd imagine that there are other alternatives to changing a tire. I've read that heavy duty bottle jacks and couple pieces of wood? I don't know... as you can tell, I have no experience in this.

    Check out safejacks.com. Not cheap, but will make a bottle jack useable and safe.

    stuff...
    There are things like the ARB X Jack, inflatable bag using the exhaust pressure. There are other similar versions. If you have on board air, they make for those as well.

    I can say for sure that the last flat I had was before 2005 on a truck. I've had my oldest HL since probably 1987-8 and have used it mostly around the property by also off-road enough to say it has paid for itself multiple times over. Some think they are dangerous, and they can be. But some really shouldn't be driving.
