Why not add a boot? Your gears display on the dash anyway.

I have one of those thrustmasters just sitting in my parts bin. I was thinking about doing this a long time ago but sort of just abandoned the flight stick shifter idea cause I like my FJ shifter so much.

Maybe I should put it up for sale. It's been gutted of its internals though.

Ok well, I guess since the cat's out of the bag I'll just give yall my plans. I want to use this joystick:
    Cyborg_CCB883910S02_04_1_F_L_Y_9_Wireless_Flight_829866.jpg
It looks modern enough, is adjustable, and is wireless. It's about 40 bucks on Amazon which is an ok price for me.

I want the buttons to control relays that will be hooked up to
    *Left and Right Turn signals
    *Horn
    *High Beams
    *Light bar (future project)
*Brake lights, giving the illusion that I'm braking (For tailgaters)

the trigger, I was thinking either being the light bar, or (since I'm already doing alot of illegal mods) a train horn that I may install sometime in the future. I may just wire it up but leave the relay open for future installs since either options are for future projects. Till then the trigger will just be to entertain my bored fingers and/or passengers

I did think about doing the wireless receiver thing, but I ran into a few problems.
    1) I dont know what powers the stick itself. Assuming it has a chargeable battery inside of it seems like a safe bet, but I would hate to get it just to find out it requires AA batteries or even worse, it has a massive chunky battery somewhere in the base.
    2) I'm not sure what the power of the ps3 usb is. Assuming I do the wireless receiver trick, I would need to know what voltage to power the thing with so I don't end up frying my whole project.

Not sure you want to post here about illegal mods.

It would be but I have a Pioneer, so without buying a steering wheel adapter it would be really tough, and im not really looking to crack open my 300$ head unit

I mean technically, having illegal mods isn't illegal until you use them right? My state of registration doesn't require inspections so....

Technically, if you keep discussing illegal mods you'll find out why I hinted that you should not do so.

The thing is, is they aren't on my truck. They are possibilities, and it would just be the train horn and brake lights. But again, this whole project is strictly in the "theoretical" state.

The brake lights, yea I probably wouldn't want people to know I have that, but the train horn, there's nothing illegal about having one, it's just when you start blaring it in traffic that you're gonna find yourself in trouble
