Looking for a 100% online college, I don't know about the different accreditations, so I need to be schooled.
I'd like at least an associates but shooting for a bachelors in psychology with a business management minor.

I need the online classes because I have a very erratic schedule.

i would recommend any other degree but psych. I have finished college in 2013 with a biology major and anything broad like business or english or biology or psych is a waste of your time. Trades are coming around and becoming high paying careers. But if you are getting a 4 year degree make sure its god damn specific. such as nursing, or mechanical engineer, or biomedical engineering, stuff like that. Even teaching you must have a type of teaching ur specialized in. A bachelors is really what a diploma used to be and a masters is now what a bachelors used to be 15 years ago.

I'm just looking at a bachelors for Federal law enforcement, Psych is great for LE because you need to read peoples body language and understand certain situations and I think psych will help with that and Business management is applicable almost anywhere.
I already have a career Certificate for welding and could easily get one for auto tech, but I don't really want to go that direction at this point.

I'd start by just contacting one of your state universities. State university degrees will be regarded highly wherever you go. No-name local colleges, not so much.

Those degrees should be able to be obtained online. As the previous poster mentioned, exercise caution with your choices in degree. If you have a plan for those degrees, awesome. But if it's just "to get a degree", think twice. I got a BS in psych, and on its own it's worthless. It's a good stepping stone to grad school if you know where you're headed. But Not much you can do with a psych degree that you can't do without one. And whatever jobs that will get you won't pay much.

ya i would rather figure out what degree they are looking for and focus on that instead of assuming psych will get u there. Lots of people have psych degrees but they may hold a police academy graduate higher in that field. Also online degrees are a dime a dozen and from what i have seen in not as high of a regard so considering you want federal law enforcement im sure they want u able to handle a school environment so you may have to suck it up. The debt expected and the degree provided you better be able to pay it off and live a life also. I wish someone would of sat me down and said what will you do with that degree and what jobs, then after listing those I would of went and talked with people in that profession to see what they did. Honestly you better be damn sure if ur going to college since the debt can get out of hand fast and a waste if u dont finish.

If you want to go psych then plan on getting a masters in it. Anything less is pointless. Like previously stated, there are a lot of majors out there that are worthless. I only have a bachelor's degree and it doesn't even get me in the door to a lot of places. If you want to go law enforcement then get a criminal justice degree. Just be sure to look at how well each college major pays before you put yourself deep in debt with no way of paying for it. Best of luck. Hit me up if you have any questions

Ashford.edu you take one class for five weeks then move on to the next. If grades are good, you can double down on classes.

As mentioned, on line degrees are a dime a dozen as far as the no-name "colleges" go. That's why I'd suggest a state university if you are set on an online degree. If you do it through a state university, no one will ever know it was online. A state university diploma is a state university diploma and the degrees are "real". And respected.

All these new budget get-your-online-degree fly by night outfits aren't gonna get you very far. Total waste of money as far as I'm concerned. I totally respect your desire to go after a degree. That's awesome. But make it count :)

Univ of Wyoming. Univ of Washington. Ohio State. Univ of Minnesota. Etc. Those degrees will be respected anywhere in the country and no one will ever know you did it online. They are legit. And likely more expensive. But they have power behind them.

I'll check with them, not much available online from Ol Miss or Miss State though that I know of.

So far my plan is to get into Law enforcement at a local level (Not difficult) and move up to state or federal if I think i would enjoy something like that.
I've done research on degrees for people interested in LE and the majority of LEO's say not to get a criminal justice degree because it's prevalent.

All the federal agencies I have looked at just state a bachelors degree, no particular major unless you go for something like cyber crime.
I can apply with the local PD or sheriffs office and if I get hired they would put me through the academy, and no degree required for my areas local departments.

    What field are you in?

From the people that I have talked to CJ degrees are too prevalent in the LE field and not much use.

The cost is a non issue.

My cousin is taking some classes like that at a university in SoCal, sounds very interesting and a style of learning that I would enjoy.

I'm currently looking into Arizona State University, from my basic research they seem to be a decent school.
I don't want to waste my time and money with anything other than a reputable school.

Aviation. As long as you've done your research and are prepared for it then all power to you! I've just seen so many of my classmates study psych and none of them have gone anywhere.

About every cop will tell you not to get a criminal justice degree if you want to be a police officer. Lot of good points made here, but that is one I'd recommend ignoring.

Yep, one of the officers I know just has a bachelors in physical education and was a bodybuilder/fitness coach before he got into LE.

masters.....if so you can read on in my comment that a masters is what a BS was 10 years ago. So ya I would expect it to be, but either way thats a really common masters from what i have seen and maybe that helped u open a door and you were the best person to charge though and make some thing happen. So good job. Most that have a masters let everyone know they do.

My wife has hers and master in psychology making nearly 6 figures a year. Working maybe 40 hrs week. Her good friend has a same worthless degree in psych and is a cop and makes very well.
I make more than some of my mech e coworkers also without an engineering degree. Just a plain ole bachelors. I'm sorry but 95% of this post isn true.

Also she had her bachelors for a while and I know what she made then.

IMO a good school makes the difference. That and doing what you like doing. What you have said has been around since I was in college and makes thins saturated.

I started out biology major, why are you saying it's worthless? Curious.
But ended up in a totally different field.

Don't listen to everything you see on the Internet. Especially people saying not to get a certain degree bc they graduated 2 years ago in some small corner of the U.S. and are experts in the national job market in all industries. I also started out a bio major in an area with an actual science industry and never had a problem being hired and using my degree. Currently back in school for MBA because I want a management path.

You need to figure out what your career path requires and go from there. If LEO is just looking to check a box with an AA or BA then online might work for you. However, from what I understand, online college degrees aren't held in very high esteem so if you are competing with other candidates with degrees from accredited universities, and the job market values those degrees then online may not help you.
