I have the choice of using 1 3/4" steel tubing or 2 1/2" rigid conduit to make a new bumper for my truck. First question is, which material would be better? I'm going to be using my truck as a daily driver and a weekend warrior once I lift her. Second question is where are the most important places to measure? I want to make a piece going along the bottom of the grille that has 4 bends in it, not sure where to put the bends or the degrees of the bends, I was thinking 60-75 on the two outer bends, and around 30 for each inside bend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I appreciate novice ingenuity. All of us have experienced a bit of that; it's how you move past novice.

In this case, I'd suggest you get experienced help to guide you while you do the work. 'Cause you're clueless.

I don't mean that in a demeaning way. But your material considerations are sketchy, you apparently don't know how to measure angles or prefab a build piece with templates and such.

I won't say it's 'hard', but it requires careful work, abstract thinking and a bit of practice. Experienced hands can help that learning process immensely.

No experienced hands around? Save your money and buy a pre built bumper that you'll have no fitment issues with.

    My dad has
My dad has quite a bit of experience, I am practicing bends with 2" conduit at the moment and I think 1 3/4" steel tubing that was left over from a roll cage would be more than enough. I also think 2 1/2" rigid conduit would be very strong and it cam definitely take an impact but its a little too thick. What would you use for material to build a bumper that would be better than my option? Willing to buy more materials but was trying to use leftover material and experiment a little bit.

I need to ask you do have tube bender ?? That can bend DOM Tube ??

If building a tube bumper it would be my first choice .

You might want to do a little research into strength of materials just to get a idea what materials can be used for what.
