Decriminalized Marijuana

I am just like you I havn't smoked for a while (since I was 18), but I do agree they should legalize marijuana... by the way who do we write or do you know of any petitions we can "sign" online?

 

I love how the main argument for legalizing it is money.

Yes, the government might gain quite a bit of money if it's legalized, but the private sector sure as shit will lose a ton due to lack of productivity.

i vote to legalize. police should have better things to do then to pester small time pot smokers. stop the war on the american public, opps i mean the war on drugs.

As of late Canada is loosening up on medical Marijuanna. Grow license's are becoming more prevelant and easier to obtain.

Here in Canada we don't have Marijaunna clinics where a prescribed patient goes to purchase what they want like they do in California.

First off marijuanna prescriptions are still hard to obtain in Canada and not given out as freely as in California. A prescribed user must be hooked up with a designated grower(which is done through a medical marijuanna clinic). Then both grower and patient apply together to Health Canada to get the permit to grow and sell to prescribed user. The plant count varies on the daily usage prescribed to the patient. A 5 gram daily prescription would allow the grower to grow up to 20 plants and have less than 2 pound dried at all times. The grower can apply for a patient as well, also done through the Medical Marijuanna Society. Multiple permits are given out if the grower has more than one prescribed patient. A prescribed user can also get a grow lisence to grow for themselves as well.

 

I don't know all of the negatives and positives about legalizing Marijuana. But I do not agree with most of the posts on this thread, about it being legalized.
I believe it will open a pandora's box of some sorts, and then it may lead to more illegal drugs being legalized like for example, Cocaine, Heroin, MDMA, etc.

As far as it being used for medical purposes, I agree that it should be. But not the way the CA is going about doing this. I believe that it should be used for a very select few of medical problems and after all alternatives have been tried. It should be used for medical conditions that have very few prescriptions or treatment's, depending on what the condition is.
I Also do not believe this medical Marijuana should be handled by "marijuana dispensaries", but strictly handled and given out by the government, federal only.

There is no reason to smoke "Mary Jane", for non medical reasons in my opinion. Except a "high" which is not a good enough reason, it doesn't nourish your body the way food or drink may.
I think if it is legalized it will lead to many problems with young people, problems that they already have enough of.

 

Do you drink alcohol?? The only reason people drink is to expierence this so called "high" to you mentioned. We all know the alchohol has much more damaging effect then weed. This has been proven time and time again.

Why does the goverment allow alcohol consumption anyways?? What benefits does it give to society? And why is it socially acceptable and marijuanna is not?

Your Pandoras box statement also made me laugh. Yup after they legalize marijuanna I'm sure crystal meth, herion and crack are gonna be next. Ya right!!! Thats ridiculous to compare these drugs to marijuanna. Just does'nt make any sense what so ever.

And let's not forget that it has been proven in tests that marijuana is not the gateway drug. Most people substitute harder drugs with marijuana actually and if you really want to get into the gateway drug theory, it would be easy to say that alcohol or even tobacco are the gateway drugs.

That may be true about alcohol, but it is different than Marijuana. There is a reason that scientists have labeled Marijuana as a drug and alcohol as not. Alcohol is food, Marijuana is not. Alcohol is a carbohydrate which is broken down for its energy/caloric values. Drugs are not. You could also say that Alcohol is a drug like Marijuana, but that all depends on how you look at it, which is different from me and you. Alcohol does mess around with your body, your brain, and body, etc. Marijuana also does the same.

But like I said It's just an opinion, I don't want to get into some grudge match with anyone, I'm just posting what I think.

I feel that alcohol is legal because back in the the day the people in power enjoyed having a drink and catching a buzz so they made it socially acceptable for everyone. Not because its considered a food. With that being said marijuanna is consumed in many different ways. The seeds are high in protiens and carbs wich are found in energy bars and food all over the world. The ingestion of marijuanna is common as well, for the medicinal and recreational user. There are resteraunts here in Van where everything on there menu has marijuanna in it on some level, be it marijuanna butter, clippings, seeds, ect, ect.

Like I say I meant no harm, sometimes it just bothers me that people are so offensive towards marijuanna but they deem the much harsher, more damaging, the more rampatdley abused LEGAL drug, alcohol... acceptable. It just does'nt make any sense to me.

 

Well hell, if you wanted to get technical, grab a handful of weed and eat it. It will give you similar effects to grabbing a glass full of wine and drinking it, and I would bet money on it that the nutritional values are similar. They both have VERY little value as a food..

 

Yeah I agree with you, people don't need to judge someone or get offensive towards someone just because they believe or don't believe something like Marijuana.
Some of my close friends believe strongly for legalizing Marijuana, and I don't judge them differently at all.

Joined a few days ago have an 09 access cab ..want to do some tires and lift ..this site is really helpfull ..plus a good site for other stuff also...first time i ever posted anywhere so...bare with me...i'm for legalizing weed..i was an avid smoker and drinker..got in to alot of trouble drinking never for smokingquit drinking 13 years ago quit smoking weed 2 years ago cause my job gives random tests otherwise i'd still love to puff..gripes my ass when some guys i work with come in boozing all night and then have the nerve to make it sound like pot smokers are bums and no goods..i have a family new home new trucks go to church regularly and think i'm an all around decent guy..sure wish i could smoke a bit say come a friday night ..but hey this the good old usa for ya..oh well that's my thoughts for now..great site fellas..

 

Of course. There is plenty of studies that argue in favor of your statement, and there is also a number of studies that argue in opposition of your statement.

Anyways you look at the legalization of marijuana it could be considered a he said, she said argument. What one study concludes is not necessarily what another concludes. The bottom line is, there are police and law enforcement agency's all over this country wasting out tax dollars playing a game of cat and mouse with marijuana smokers, and dealers (which there would not be if it was legalized). This same situation can be seen in history with the prohibition of alcohol.
