Bought a new (2015) never used PJ 5X10 dump trailer. The moment I plugged it to factory tow package plug on truck right and left turn lights remained on (no flashing) even with key out of truck. After that, L&R poles on truck tow plug were hot all the time (with key out of truck). Toytota dealer replaced the expensive meter under warranty but the 2nd time I tried to use the trailer same thing. They claim it is not happening to anyone else and suggest I change all the LED lights on the trailer to old style bulbs which sounds fishy to me and would require all new light fixtures. Trailer lights work fine with my older Ford truck. Anyone have a clue?

Keep making them replace it over and over. Tell them you tried a different trailer same result.

2015? That thing might have been sitting around a while and have bad grounds and maybe not agreeing with the new truck. Unscrew and retighten all ground points. Also, since its new it might not be grounding nicely on the trailer ball. Take some sand paper to the trailer coupler and rough it up.

LED lights shouldn't be causing the issue.

I once had to attach a 12 inch battery cable with eyelets on each end to a tilting trailer. So both parts were properly grounded.

Also try applying some dielectric grease to the trailer plug because it might be a connection issue.

How about try a different trailer first, then say you tried a different trailer with the same result. Lying, when it may be the trailers fault, seems really shady and a bad way to troubleshoot the situation.

But it all works with his other truck?

Have some animosity towards Toyota being how they treated me. Plus if it works on his other truck fine that seems to point to something wrong with the taco.

Are your headlights still on Auto. Maybe the headlights are still on...

Either that or maybe your emergency brake might force them to stay on????
Just some wild guesses you might want to take a look at.

I agree it sounds like the taco, I just don't think anyone should say they tried something and it worked fine when they didn't. I understand your frustration though.
