You don't register anything with an 18" or longer barrel in PA.

I don't know about North Carolina but here in Florida if you purchase a firearm from a dealer or wal mart for that matter, it goes through a criminal background check, if you pass, you get the gun and I think thats how it's "registered" to you, now 6 months down the road you can sell it to me and I don't have to do a thing, so gun shows and classified ads where private sellers deal with private buyers no backgroung check or registration takes place, I have some guns bought through dealers and others bought through private individuals, check your laws in your state, unless you have to < I say no don't bother

If you plan on shooting any heavy loads or slugs get the Remington 870 since it has a steel receiver. You'll get more felt recoil with the Mossberg's aluminum receiver.

yes register it. i will tell you a crazy story why i register all my guns. my wife has a cousin that is a big dog hunter, it is not my cup of tea, but this is funny. he gets so excited when he hears them running deer. he has had several wrecks trying to head off deer. ran in a ditch once, dog box flew over the truck with dogs in it. another time he ran into a damn peanut trailer going 40 mph in a field in the fog. the dude has issues.

any way in one of his mad dashes to take off like a bat out of hell, he left his 1,200 benelli shotgun on the tail gate. did not realize it until he got to where the dogs were, and was like, hey i don't have my gun. goes back can't find it anywhere. this happened in north carolina now. two years later he gets a call from A.T.F. saying they found his gun in a drug raid in chicago. he got it back, did not have a scratch on it. now if you are not laughing after reading this something is wrong with you.

Normaly guns are not registered. you just get a background check and then its yours. The only thing showing "you" owning that gun is the background check paperwork that you sign at the dealer. they are suppose to keep it on hand for X amount of years. I use to work for a dealer at gun shows and thats all we did.

No registration here in Tennessee either, but check the local laws to be safe. Happy hunting.

So if i buy a gun at wally world, like the Remington 870 I bought years ago, more than 10, there is nothing other than a bill of sale that can trace it back to me? And they only have to keep it for x number of years? If I turn around and sell it to my next door neighbor and he moves to Alaska,(which he did) kills someone (NO HE DIDN"T)and leaves it at the scene of the crime, I should expect a call from the Police asking where I was yesterday, right? I havent bought a gun from an authorised dealer since that shotgun, so I guess I'm totally not registered. cool
