While driving when it's really windy I get a sporadic whistling noise that sounds like it could be coming from somewhere around the in-cabin air filter. Does this happen to anyone else?

My '13 and '14 both did this. i fished a piece of 1/4" clear plastic tubing through the rubber hood gasket to fix it. It is also common for door gaskets and bug deflectors to cause this.

Spray some fantastic spray cleaner or the likes inside the gasket, then push the tube right in. I did it across the hood and above the headlights.

Is it a "tea kettle" high pitch sound? It may be the front hood seal as hotrod53 suggested, I did something similar as he:

I guess it's kinda high pitched. I only notice it when it's really windy out though. I'm going to take y'all's advice and try pushing something through that gasket. I think I have some plastic tubing laying around from an aquarium.

I also whould here that same whistling nose when I had the radio turned down, I ask my wife if she could here it. She said no and went back to sleep. Then I heard it again. Then it dawned on me, it was her. I now keep a box of those breath right strips in the glove box and anytime she rides in my truck she has too put one on her nose. That fix the problem and it was a cheap mod to boot.

Mission accomplished. I pushed some tubing through the seals. The ones above the headlights went right through but the one across the hood was a p.i.t.a. Almost gave up and went to go get a wood dowel. I got it within an inch of the other side and then grabbed it with some tiny needle nose pliers and pulled it the rest of the way. Now I'll see if it worked on the next windy day. Thanks for the help guys.

If it were a PITA you needed more spray cleaner. Fantastic spray cleaner worked great for me, pump that stuff right in there from both ends good and heavy, it will dry up. I like the idea of plastic tubing over the rigidity of the dowel because there isn't much room and that gasket needs to squeeze to seal.

Same issue here, I'll give the 1/4 in tubing a try. Results to follow.

Once again, this is the place to come for accurate info! I have been putting up with the highway whistle for a couple years since I couldn't convince anyone to hang onto the hood at 70 mph to locate where the noise was coming from. I just slid in a piece of aquarium tubing as directed, and hit the highway with a quieter truck. Mine is a 2003 that just went over 100k miles, so it's just getting broken in!
    Thanks everyone

OK, it's been almost three weeks since I put the aquarium tube in the gaskets and have yet to hear anymore whistling. We had some bad thunderstorms last week with pretty good wind and so far so good. Taking a road trip this weekend to Tennessee so I'll see how it does on the interstate.

May be a dumb question in relation to this thread, but for any of you that had this issue which was remedied by beefing up the under-hood gasket... would opening your window stop the whistling?

I have a high pitched whistle sound, only on a windy day, only at speeds of 40MPH+ that sounds like it's coming from the driver's side, but if I crack my window down enough to let air in, the whistling instantly stops. I'm thinking it may be a window gasket issue because it only started making the noise here in the past 2 months, but I'm wondering if the gasket under the hood could somehow be the culprit?

    Thanks.

There are a lot of reports of door gasket issues, I'm guessing that's what your problem is. I would suggest taping off around your door jamb on the outside with blue painters tape and going for a ride to see if it resolves, then you'll know.
