How do you store your mountain/road bike?

We've got 2 mt. bikes and 1 road bike and I've been looking at some different options for storing them in the garage. We finally cleaned it out and got the floor epoxied...er...epoxyed......and now that we park both vehicles inside, we're short on room.

I'm leaning towards wall racks like the Delta Leonardo or the Racor Solo, but I've read some reviews and they don't seem to work well with mt. bike tires. The other option I'm looking at is the Topeak Twoup stand for the mt. bikes and then a wall stand for the road bike. Anyway, I was curious what some of you do to store your bikes.

 

I hang mine upside down from the ceiling on hooks. I've got a tall ceiling.

Edit: Not sure how it'd do for a MTB. If it's anchored well enough I imagine it would be plenty stable.

 

I've got something like the leonardo. It works for my and my wife's mtn bikes.

 

from the ceiling with hooks....hang by two tires on my adult bike, the kids small bikes hang by one tire.

 

Mine are on a stand that sits up on the wall, they stack two high and two wide. It was $68 at performance.com

 

My mtn bikes hang upside down from the ceiling by the rims. My road bike also hangs on hooks from the ceiling but right side up by the neck in front and frame in back. I don't trust those little tiny rims to support the weight. i know it would fine because those same rims support me, but still.

 

I have one of those bike lift things with the pulleys and the two double hooks. My ceilings in the garage are about 9.5' high so its a little difficult to lift the bike up to hang on hooks. I used to hang it on hooks on the wall but it got in the way and I needed it higher up because I kept hitting my head on it walking through.

 

Hooks from the wall, they only cost a couple of bucks and support my mountain bikes by the rims upside down just fine.

Do you know who makes it?

Is it the Delta Michelangelo? I checked that one out too, but the hooks don't look very secure to me. Do they stay in place like they should or do they tend to slide around?

Is that bolted in or does it stay in place with tension like a shower curtain rod? The Topeak one I mentioned is similar, but it has legs like a tripod. If I get one I'll have to knickname it Mini Me.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm really not a fan of the ceiling hooks and where I have in mind, they wouldn't work anyway.

 

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Stanley maybe. I picked them up at one of those closeout stores that sell stuff cheap.

 

I don't store it. I ride all winter! I have indoor rollers that keep me on the bike. I used to store them in the garage on hooks from the ceiling.

I know that you're not a fan of the hooks but they're so cheap only a few dollars at most hardware store and are good for light road bikes with one hook. I've got a cheap pulley lift from target for like $20 for the heavy mtn bike.

I only have one rig so it sits on the work stand when not in use.

 

Just hang mine on the wall. Most of the time its down but I ride mine a lot.
