Well you guys called it. Service wanted to keep the truck overnight but after a discussion opted for all day. Tech drove the truck and reported nothing out of the ordinary. They ran a health check??? But never actually checked the ATF. The S/A said they would only do this if they could reproduce the symptoms.
I guess I'll have to contact another dealer. Hopefully I won't get more scripted Toyota speak.

Lol I just read the print out and the mileage in was the same as going out , so they never test drove it like they said. Wtf...

Might as well just do it yourself. Even if they check it you can't be assured that they'll do it correctly anyway. Sad but true.

Yes, you are right Crunch..!! AS usual... I had a Brain Fart yesterday and opened the plug when cold and NOT running..!! Something Homer Simpson would do..hehe. (DOH..!!)

Today, I figured what the hell, I'm pretty sure it's a bit low, so I put in 1 liter when cold..... Did everything else and got her up temp and then pulled the plug... I only got 1/4 liter out before the small trickle.....

Look like I was 3/4 Liter low.... Tow Pgk. here....

    I'll update the poll...

Thanx for the advice Crunch any everyone...!! :canada:

So I need to confirm with the servixd manager about what is fixing what. I had a list of issues including a howl when lifting off the gas at highway speeds, and a slamming/clunking forward as incame to a stop on an incline.

I've been out of town, so most of my information is voicemail since we've been playing phone tag.

I know a Toyota field tech was called in to look at it and a new differential was needed. I'll post the details when I have them. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have the diff filled with oil. ;)

OK , so here is another issue that seems to be popping up .
At this time , I am not positive that its related to the low fluid problem that most of us are aware of but I will post this concern in a few places at Tacoma world so the word gets out .
Some members with 2016 trucks are feeling the transmission slip between 2nd and 3rd gear .
Members reading this need to pay attention to the upshift from 2nd to 3rd gear
I will link you guys to the post so you can read on your own and what to look for .

Kenster , I suggest starting a new thread with your description of the problem "2016 RUMBLE STRIP " when coasting to a stop
I dont have this complaint listed in the 2016 write up yet https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...omatic-in-the-2016-write-up-with-pics.361114/
JoCoQS and you both have the same symptoms .

My truck is currently on order, salesman told me last week that it's actually being built this week, I won't receive the truck for about a month. Does anyone else with a later-date built truck have this issue? Just wondering if it's something that has been resolved over the last 6 months or so, or should I bring it up to the service department when I first receive my truck? Thanks for any input.

Might be a good idea to tell them to verify the tranny is full BEFORE you sign anything... they will likely check it then..! Not the Techstream crap...a real "see the fluid check"..

    Tell us what happens....

(might want to add the U-joints and diffs to that list.. hehe)

That's a good call, to have them look over these issues during the pre-delivery inspection before signing anything. I'll talk with my salesman sometime in the upcoming weeks and bring this to his attention. What issues were the u-joints and diffs having? I did see the threads about the u-bolts on the leaf packs were a bit loose, and that the zerk fittings weren't greased at all.

Some diffs are low on oil... all U-joints are NOT greased... (only 4x4's have them)..

Most U-bolts are under torqued... should be 52 ft/lbs.

I'll definitely be bringing this to their attention when the truck arrives, in the meantime I'll probably send my salesman a text message with the list of these few issues I've discovered. Thank you.

Took in my 2016 BR DCSB Sport for a fluid check. No shifting symptoms, just a paranoid owner, especially after all the issues reported here. Call my SA, he said bring it in and we will check it for you. A short drive to the dealer, got there an hour prior to the appointment with temps in the 49s. Took about 2 hours to get it cooled down and checked. She is about to come down off the rack. Tranny OK, but U joints took grease. Peace of mind. Thanks to you all. IMG_2261.jpg

Did they actually test it properly - did you see it?

I was told they did both, nope. Used techstream for the tranny check and ALL zerks
were dry as a bone and un-touched Yet, my paperwork says they were checked and
filled and the ATF was at the proper level - not sure how they know that without physically
    checking it.

Oh yes, and forgot to mention that they checked the torque on drive shaft components and rear suspension with out my asking. The message is getting out there. and sorry temp out side was in the 40s not in the 49s!

Sorry I may not get your point. As stated earlier, I have had the same SA for 14 years. He is a man of his word. If I didn't trust him I wouldn't have bought the truck there. The truck was on the rack for a good hour. I could see the tech working under the vehicle. He rolled a fluid waste container under the tranny. I could see him working on the bottom and side of the tranny. He had the grease gun in his hand at one point. Did i watch him/them like a hawk....no. Both the SA and the tech walked me through the process they used and it sounded just like what has been documented on this thread. I am confident that the work was done and done correctly.

awesome! that's good that you got to actually see it. My paperwork stated what they
checked and each item was BS, they never checked a thing.

After many back and forth emails with Toyota they're only resolution was to keep returning
to the dealer, I said, "nope that's not going to happen, why would I return to a dealer who clearly
lied about what they serviced? filling the zerks would have taken no more than 10 min., they
didn't touch them but wrote down ALL ZERKS CHECKED AND FILLED"

The farkles have started and on order
Went to the dealer I bought my truck from and told them the transmision slipped once in a while when it was cold. The service manager told me to drop it off and if they don't feel the problem there's nothing they can do. So I called Toyota and started the case they told me the dealer would call me back in 2 days, service manager never called me I called Toyota back again then the third day he finally called. Reluctantly he said bring it in and we'll see what is happening and check the oil. I told him other dealers found this issue with the Tacoma's that have the tow package added to them from the factory are running low on trans fluid, he didn't believe me. Well let me tell you there's mud on his face now, he explain the procedure to me what they did to check the oil level and it was the same as what the guys on here have said and found the transmission to be 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart low. Thank guys who have figured this out. I hope toyota fixes this on newly built tacos
