Agreed. Very easy to get to. I've always wanted to get a spare window from somewhere to try it, but the junk yards are expensive.

Washed and waxed her, started debadging with removing the PreRunner badge. Didn't have time to finish, dinner with the wife trumps the truck (this time).

It takes more effort than you would expect, from inside a vehicle it'll probably take a few strikes to break, mostly due to not enough room to swing and gain inertia.

even a spring loaded center punch can take a few strikes to break tempered glass.

The issue being the window seals absorb some of the shock, slightly open a window and it will break almost every time.

I've seen videos of people hitting windows with hammers and having no luck. I've heard that a spark plug will do the trick, but that would be harder to find in a bad situation. If it comes down to life and death for me and my son , I'll find a way.

This is good info, I want to buy one for my wife's SUV and my truck. Does it come with a mount? I assume that Amazon is the best place to pick these up.

    Yes.
I sure wish someone would build one of these, as a dead blow glass break hammer. That'd make using them quite a bit more effective in the limited space.

Amazon has about 50 flavors of window breakers. Anything from spring loaded to hammer style. I went with the simplest hammer style because i wouldn't want to trust something that never gets used to spring out on the first try

All the ones I looked at did. Amazon prime all the way.

I gave the interior a good spring cleaning. Swapped the front weathertechs out for the summer carpet mats, and rotated the tires.

the important part is to assess before reacting and not panic, being inside is still the safest place to be if the vehicle is still moving, after it stops figure out which way is up, then act.

honestly, that tool is more likely to be of better use on someone else's vehicle, if you're in a situation where you're inside your own vehicle and need it, you're likely going to be incapacitated in some manner anyway (unfortunately)

Water entrapment happens, but isn't as likely as one would think

I hope it never happens to anyone that's for sure, but after watching myth busters I think I can get out. That show was very informative for both me and my son. This is assuming I'm awake and not knocked silly

Thanks Chase...just added a pair with the mount to my basket. Like the fire bottle I hope it just collects dust.
By that I mean that I hope I never have to use it.

Picked up some bins from Home Depot for $7. Using them to store groceries. Paired with the bed mat, there is no sliding now. Also did a propane re-up
